*Spoiler free!  Feel free to read before watching the anime.

Here's the thing.  KonoSuba is a parody.  Any review written about this show is going to be based on the reviewer's humor.  If this ends up being your style of comedy, you will enjoy it.  If not, you will think it's absolutely stupid.  But either way, I think it's worth giving a shot to see what you think.

The story of Konosuba follows a young teenager who dies on Earth and gets transported to another world.  Much like all isekai, he is then given the task of defeating a world-defining foe.  However, unlike isekai, he is woefully under-prepared for the entire anime and anything he achieves is based on luck.  As he lives in this new world, he gains a party of absolutely useless members.  In case you couldn't tell - this anime is making fun of traditional isekai anime.

The animation is nothing to write home about.   Personally, the anime is full of the common big-boobed trope that usually annoys me, but because this is a parody, it's used for comedic purposes rather than for any sexual effect.  One of my least favorite genres is ecchi but I wasn't bothered by the animation in this because it's meant to be making fun of anime where it's a serious character design.

As for the sound, the OP was nice enough, but the voice actors did a great job.  In particular, the VA playing Kazuma, who would go from deadpan to screaming in a nanosecond was particularly hilarious.  Part of this is also due to the dialogue, but you have to have a good cast in order to successfully pull off a good dialogue, too.

The characters are what really make KonoSuba shine...and also seem to be the make or break for most people.  While the plot is ridiculous enough, the characters take that idiocy and turn it up to eleven.  As I mentioned earlier, every single character is worthless, but that's the point.  It's through sheer luck that they're able to accomplish anything and, once again, that's also the point.  Whether or not you like the characters is going to greatly influence whether or not you like this anime.

My personal enjoyment started off low. I was hesitant in the first episode by the shots of Aqua's butt through her skirt and I didn't find the anime funny at first. As I mentioned before, I really don't like ecchi, so that was enough to keep my guard up for quite awhile. I actually wasn't really into it until about episode 4 when the first enemy (substantial enemy) is introduced.  After that, it almost felt like a tonal shift happened in my mind (maybe because all of the main characters were introduced and their dynamic had been cemented) and I just found the rest of this anime so enjoyable and hilarious.

Overall,  I would reacommend this if you're a fan of slapstick humor, ridiculous circumstances and just sheer idiocy. If so, give this a try.
