Both Mezzo Forte and Kite have strong independant, yet lethal lead female characters. The same art style and similarities in plot with both series willb e painfully obvious when you watch them. But if you loved one, you'll love the other.

CheesyP18 CheesyP18 says...

It's pretty easy to see the similarities here. If you get the uncut version, each has a little hentai thrown in. If not, the series is still good, the hentai is just for extra bang. So, both Kite and Mezzo Forte have basically the same structure. Girls with guns. In Kite the girl is not so assertive compared to the girl in Mezzo Forte. Even so, you get just about the same feel for both of them, high paced action and some drama.

amateurasu amateurasu says...

Both are made by the same guy, and the similarities will leap out of the screen and smack you in the face. MF is a better show overall, but Kite is well worth a watch.

Shadizzy Shadizzy says...

BABES WITH GUNS!, if it were only that simple, both these animes wouldnt be in this database. On the contrary, both these animes are psychological thrillers, which leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. Both Kite and Mezzo are done by the same company with the same animation and graphic style. Though Kite has a stronger more compelling story, Mezzo does the job and follows through with a entertaining plot and a surprising finish.

tac0 tac0 says...

Mezzo Forte and Kite focus as much on the violence and sex as they do on the plot. It you are in the mood to indulge your primitive side Mezzo Forte and Kite will both satisfy.

freakzilla freakzilla says...

It is hard to come by two anime that are this alike. Be it the ass-kicking babes, the overly violent nature, the psychological extra value to the plot or even the hentai scenes; everything makes Mezze Forte a perfect match for Kite. You are bound to like both or hate both!

styln styln says...

Both Kite and Mezzo Forte are very similar; they have a dangerous female lead that can kick lots of ass. They also have a similar animation style and are both extremely violent and sexually explicit. These two titles are definitely not meant for children.

TheGiftedMonkey TheGiftedMonkey says...

Very similar series with teenage hitwomen. Blood, violence, and in some cases hardore sex abound. These movies are must watches for action lovers. Just don't watch them while your parents are around. ;D

Oehr Oehr says...

Both series are taking place in the same universe. You can even see Sawa from A Kite appearing in Mezzo Forte. Both series are directed by Yasuomi Umetsu and you'll notice this right away: neo-noir, thriller, badasses, and many many more similarities. Be sure to check out both!

SadisticTendencies SadisticTendencies says...

There are more similarities than differences when it comes to Kite and Mezzo Forte; they're made by the same person, feature plenty of gore and resort to moments of extreme sexuality. Both also have female protagonist working as assassins. Kite is watchable uncensored (though highly explicit) but Mezzo Forte dwells too much on the Hentai scenes which are repulsive. Yet, if you liked one, watch the other.

like Kite, Perfect Blue is another twisted thriller anime, with an intense plot and some good violence and suspense. If you liked one, you will probably enjoy the other.

sothis sothis says...

Something about Kite reminds me of Perfect Blue, and I'm not sure why. The animation style is similar, but more than that... they both have the same gritty dark feel to them, and are equally as engaging. Check it out.

edgeofthesea edgeofthesea says...

I don't know what it is about Kite and Perfect Blue that fits so well together, but I know they do. I guess they're both in the "grim and gritty" category for me. You should definitely check them out.

freakzilla freakzilla says...

Because both have a twisted plot and some extreme violence, a dark and gloomy atmosphere prevails in both Perfect Blue and Kite. Both give us a realistic and scary view on harsh topics.

JunkieCosmonaut JunkieCosmonaut says...

Though the storylines are different, they both include the same elements that make them so much alike. Murder, gore, suspense, disturbing/graphic scenes, and unexpected plot twists. You're sure to like them both.

edgeofthesea edgeofthesea says...

Kite and Elfen Lied both feature strong, independent, and lethal female leads. Kite has some hentai in it (especially if you get the director's cut), but Elfen Lied has a ton of non-sexual nudity (fanservice or art? you decide). Both lead females seem like killing machines. As you begin to see their backgrounds, you start understanding why they are so brutal and seemingly uncaring.

ForgottenSon ForgottenSon says...

The most important similarities between Elfen Lied and Kite are their extremely gory nature, as well as both shows being centered around strong, deadly female characters, driven by their unhappy, violent pasts. If you enjoyed the shocking violence and tormented lead character of one of these anime, there's a strong chance you'll like the other.

Khaos Khaos says...

In spite of many differences the animes both uses girls to display their scenes of blood and gore in a too realistic and straightforward way that it can be shocking for the weak of heart.

FullmetalDragon FullmetalDragon says...

Both have lots of blood, mature themes, and some teenage female characters with some seriously depressing pasts.

Both serie shave a bit same the genre, though while Kite has some hentai scenes in it, the story isn't all that bad. If you don't mind the Hentai scenes and like Noir, you'll probably liek Kite. If you are looking for a similar story like Kite, but without the hentai scenes, you'll probably like Noir

aldat aldat says...

Firstly, I must say I didn't much like Kite, it was a bit too hentai. You won't find that in Noir and this isn't the only difference between the series. Still, in both of them, the killing is beautiful. The animation is different, but great in both. Noir and Kite tell of people that has grown to live a bit outside the society and their attemps to feel like normal human beings can sometimes make your heart ache. The themes behind the story are similar, but the atmosphere is not.

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Assassins removing the disreputable elements from society are a like theme in Noir and Kite. The female protagonists use their skills to keep creeps from continuing their reigns of terror. Dark and somewhat sobering, both of these are very powerful anime to watch.

VRDave VRDave says...

Like Kite, Blood the Last Vampire is another great show about a female main character who causes lots of gory things to happen to the 'bad guys'. She uses a gun instead of a sword in Blood however. This is a very good movie!

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Brutally violent and disturbingly real, Kite and Blood share the primary theme of a female protagonist being sent in by another authority to remove threats to humanity.

SadisticTendencies SadisticTendencies says...

Kite and Blood the Last Vampire are both very short stories that feature plenty of violence as well as two female protagonists who slaughter their opponents without much hesitation. Both storylines are very dark and ominous, and while Kite is on the more explicit (aka "Border-line Hentai) side of things, they remain pretty similar to each other. Recommended for people who enjoyed one of them, and for those of you who do not wish to waste much time.

Arcardo Arcardo says...

The core stories for both animes are very similar, a young girl who was more or less pushed into the dangerous business of an assassin and has practically nowhere to run, no family, friends outside the business etc. Kite is more mature and "evil" though, it shows more clearly the dark side of human beings. Both animes are quite tragic.

djcurry djcurry says...

Both shows are about girls being assassins. They are very good in both shows. In gunslinger girl the girls are part machine. The girls in both shows are brainwashed and controled by others. Kite is a more mature anime than Gunslinger girl.

DeathCrunch DeathCrunch says...

Naive adolescent girls forced to become brutal assassins rather than experience normal health lives.

Gunslinger Girl looks at the gritty and often blurred morality of child soldiers given new life through robotic limbs and psychological conditioning.

Kite gibes us a window into the abusive life of a girl who's adoptive father trained her to kill and keeps her under his thumb through physical and mental abuse.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

IDDKyewD IDDKyewD says...

Both anime deal with the vile world of assassination and using teenagers to do it. Both have lots of action too. And finally, both delve into the relationship between the two teen killers. Just know that Kite is for more mature audiances.

djcurry djcurry says...

Both get into the nitty gritty details of real life. The main characters in both are assassins. They are also both brainwashed/controled by other people.

games4yosoul games4yosoul says...

Both Kite and Phantom deal with young assassins who are emotionally disconnected but slowly become "human" again. Both shows deal with mature themes although kite is much more so than Phantom.

I strongly recommend not watching this OVA without seeing the regular Kenshin series. Given that you have watched the series, but haven't seen this yet, do so. Kite's violence is a lot more extreme/unrealistic, but just as powerful, watching a could-have-been-innocent teenager become a murderer.. tormented inside.

shalist shalist says...

Both series feature kids who's parents were brutally murdered, and who became assassins because of it. And both deal with the character regaining a sense of humanity. Also, they've both got some decent fight/killing scenes, whether it's with guns are swords.

Both Berserk and Kite are dominated by violence... although, admittedly, Kite's is far more unrealistic and often laughable. Both have traumatised main characters, who had a bad childhood. Both are assassins of sorts.. Gatts being a mercenary for hire, while Kite is an unpaid killer.
