Kino's Journey: Byouki no Kuni -For You-

What I Liked: Much better animation than the main series (well, it is a movie). Somehow Kino seems more lively than in the series. Nice soundtrack. Brilliant set design and world building. Great, intriguing plot that's driven less by the country and culture and more by the people within it.What I Didn't: The 3D CGI and the 2D animation sometimes isn't seamless. Some cinematography seemed unsuited for particular scenes (e.g. the conversation / fight scene with Lt. Cole). The ending, while standard for a Kino's Journey story, felt shallow and abrupt. Final Verdict: Byouki no Kuni - For You is decidedly more character-driven and a little less culturally-focused than the series, and perhaps less overtly philosophical. Yet, this never comprimises the wonderful feeling of adventure this story has. The updated animation gives this movie a fresh feel, but tends to fall short in scenes where 3D CGI is used. All in all, Byouki no Kuni is a great addition to the Kino's Journey canon.
