Both Mar and Kiba are fantastic and very similar in a way. Both have a main character looking to escape their own world to another where their life will have purpose. If you love shows with tons of magic using and awesome battles, definitely check out both of these.

Seiryu Seiryu says...

In Mar and in Kiba the main characters have been dropped onto another world, and they have to fight to save the new world and are forced to have many battles along the way.

In both anime, the people can call something with a tool to get assistance in battle.

Mar is a bit more funny while Kiba is a bit more serious and the personality of the heroes is completely different, but if you like one of them, you can give the other a try.

Pufferfish Pufferfish says...

In both Mar and kiba the main character goes to another world where he becomes very powerfull and helps others out. The battles are very similar too. In both there is this kind of "magic" stuff taking place in the battles.

LeBBlood LeBBlood says...

Both anime are relatively similar super power types that revolve around young protagonists who end up in a parallel universe. Despite both being a Shounen, Kiba (for the most part) had a much more mature atmosphere and story to it.  So if you are going to watch MAR, i would suggest walking into it with the expectation of seeing lots of typical Shounen gags during serious situations.

Either way, if you liked one, definitely check out the other.

Bleach

Bleach

However, when Ichigo and his family find themselves under attack by a huge beast, Ichigo discovers that there’s more to the supernatural world than the everyday specter. Vengeful spirits known as Hollows roam the world in search of devouring souls, and Shinigami – soul reapers – work tirelessly to defeat them and guide normal ghosts into a place called Soul Society. Ichigo valiantly fights the Hollow that threatens his sisters, but on the verge of defeat a Shinigami named Rukia gives him her powers, turning him into a Shinigami himself. Ichigo must now adjust to his new life of both vanquishing and saving souls for the sake of Soul Society.

If you enjoyed KIBA and are looking for some more low-plot high-action shounen, I would definitely recommend Bleach to you.  KIBA fans will also find similarities between the characters of Zed and Ichigo.

I think both have good intense plots that suit and complament the amount of action in both shows.

Bleach and Kiba are both adventure filled action packed series with fantasy worlds and monsters throughout them.  So if you're into that sort of thing, you should check both of them out.  Bleach is more spiritual while Kiba takes a more sci-fi futuristic/fantasy route.  Both have strong characters and contain good ammounts of action and emotional content.

TU is a bit more funny than Kiba, but they have quite a bit in common. In both animes the main characters have to fight a lot of battles and they can call unnatural powers.

While they grow stronger as time passes, both of their goals are to save the world.

A young boy who discovers a great power and must deal with a bunch of dangerous enemies.

Different story, same style.

Kiba and Shaman King are about people that use spirits to aid them and make them strong in battles. If you liked one of these anime for the characters that train to be the best in battle, the newfound friends that would sacrifice themselves for one another, and the amazing magic and superpowers, you would really like the other.

Both of those animes are actually quite different, at least about the drawing style. On the other hand the story and ending is quite similar. In both of those series people have a special power with what they fight and that power either swallows them or makes them stronger. The main characters in both of those stories have to go through a tough battle with this power in the end. Of course there is this never ending fight between good and evil. But who can tell anymore what is good and what is evil? People are constantly changing their sides. If watching those series it is going to be a tough decision for you to pick out the good and evil.

These two titles share the interaction of various different - very different - cultures and their respective political offerings. Juuni Kokki is definitely the more mature of the two, yet similarities in magic/monsters/weird people just remind you of the other.

....maybe it's just that both have crazy flying unicorn things..?

Setsuka88 Setsuka88 says...

Both The Twelve Kingdoms and Kiba have main characters who find themselves in an alternate world from their own.  Yohko and Zed find themselves caught up in the politics and conflicts of the seperate nations of the worlds they arrive in. The Twelve Kingdoms is superior to Kiba, but they share similar elements and have complex stories with deep meaning.  If you like one you should check out the other.

Both Kiba and El Hazard have a main character that ends up in a parallel world and struggles to survive. Both heroes acquire powers and abilities that they couldn't have in their home worlds.

El-Hazard tends to be funnier, though the story itself gives the same impression as Kiba.
