Kappa no Ude is a short film created by Ryo Hirano. It was influenced by a story he had read about a Kappa losing it's arm, the loss of one of his friends, and a letter sent to him by his mother while he was an exchange student in New Zealand. The story follows a green kappa who accidentally rips the arms off of his yellow friend while they were playing. He runs off with them, and the yellow kappa follows before slipping and bashing his head open on a rock. I won't go any further as not to spoil things, but if you're thinking it's going to be gory, it's actually fairly clean. In fact, the minimal use of blood and gore makes the injuries a bit more disturbing. The film also has zero spoken words.
