It is a stand alone and you don't have to watched the original series to understand and enjoy what is happening. It takes place before Yumeko went to the school and gives more depth to the other characters even though I still have a lot of questions.  I enjoyed it quite a lot but it doesn't have the same shock you got in the original. You still get the close ups on the faces but I have a feeling it is a bit more mild. It is a 7,5 for me and recommend this to anyone to watch this and the other series!

I absolutely obsess over Kakegurui and Mary is my favourite character so i had to watch it. Story, unlike the original, revolves around Mary Saotome, tells the viewers more about her. I would say its a story about friendship and trust. It didnt have the suspense sometimes. I was never bored watching tho. Its animated very mych like the original series, but there are slight changes to the appearance of the characters, but nothing drastic. Sound is amazing, I love the opening and ending songs. Overall solid 8/10 cuz original Kakegurui was too good. :) recommend watching if u like gamba

This was really enjoyable I most say I do really love mind games but what this anime was missing was the "Yumeko craziness"! <3
