Both of these shows run with the idea of killing or defeating their opponent leads to victory. And, in the spirit of high stakes battles, there is an enourmous amount of reversals on both sides from the main characters of these shows. But, one the greatest connections is the abundance of internal monologues for dramatic effect. While the end goals of these shows may differ, they take the same pathways as a medium for storytelling.

The themes of these two anime aren't alike, one deals with over dramatic romance and one with a group of kids trying to kill their mutant teacher but their style of comedy is. Both have highly over-dramatic jokes and gags that base their humor on the characteristics of their charming cast and have parody of the anime genres they're derived from. Similar great comedic timing and great use of color. If you liked Kaguya-Sama, you may enjoy Assassination Classroom.

I thought I'd make a reccomendation for a similar theme with this anime and one with a similar tone and style of humor, so here's the one with a similar theme. Tsurezure Children is a series of shorts having to do with romance and funny little situations involved with the characters in love. Lots of interesting and funny characters, if you like one you'll like the other for the same reasons.

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

Chiyo Sakura, a high school girl who fell in love with the unrefined boy schoolmate Umetaro Nozaki, decides to be courageous one day and asks him out. Her feelings weren't conveyed properly, and before she knew it she ends up helping a particular job of his as an assistant... The series is a shojo manga boy comedy which centers around Nozaki, a high school boy that is a popular shojo manga artist, and has a story woven by very individualistic characters.

Honestly, I love both of these anime at the moment. I'm sitting here watching Kaguya-Sama and I just can't stop comparing it to MTRC-SNAFU because they're both so good. Kaguya-Sama and MTRC-SNAFU both take a Tsundere v.s Tsundere plot and turn it into something unique and enjoyable. MRTC-SNAFU takes a more realistic, and worldly view of romance and adds its own twist, while Kaguya-Sama is more fictional with its romantic "boxing" matches. I love both of these anime and would recomend this both ways. (^-^)
