If you're looking for anime similar to Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, you might like these titles.
Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter and gather intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city's walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever...

Walled fortress to keep out the humans that became monsters, and one person who comes to posess a mean to defeat the monsters more effectively. Both protagonists lost their most precious person to the monster. Bushi in Kabaneri equals Military in SNK. First episode, the wall falls in both of the series.
You have to watc both of them to see the exact similiarities, but they are similar in many ways. Both of plenty bloodthirsty.
However, SNK is set in European setting, with renaissance technology. Kabaneri is set in premodern Japan type of society with technologies varying from 19 to 21st century. Being bit by Kabane in Kabaneri signifies that you will become a Kabane too, like a zombie, but people are eaten like snacks by titans in SNK
Only watched the first ep but it looks like a no brainer with regards to Kabaneri and Titan being of a similar type
Walled fortresses to stop monsters entering. Spoiled people who hid within the walls. They have some simililarities but you need to watch both to understand. And I recommend that you do watch them both, but be warned there is plenty of blood spewing everywhere.
In both we have a post-apocylaptic world where groups of people live inside a walled city to survive a threat to humanity. In the case of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, the people know of more than one city and the cities are connected by railways and armored trains shuttle supplies and people back and forth. Trains still have to pass through stations that have succomed to the disease, which is how the disease can spread.
Notably, Kabaneri has the same director and animation studio as Attack on Titan, but looks worlds nicer than AoT ever did. Hopefully it doesn't suffer from the same pacing issues.
First Episode Review: The first anime to catch my attention since Attack on Titan. Finally something that looks really good.
The story is promising. Demons rampaging and possible Demon Powers for our hero who is basically Eren Yeager from AoT except he's an inventor and it looks like he has a love interest.
The animation will please any old school anime fan. The art is a detailed traditional style of animation. AoT has great art but I think this anime has a little more love and attention in it. I've never been a fan of the more clean computer drawn feeling a lot of new anime have. Something goes missing in the art process when computers are used for the majority of the work.
The music fits well with the goings on and it would not be unpleasant to watch the opening and ending credits instead of skipping over them.
I don't mind that the main character is basically Eren-AoT but maybe the future episode will show us something to set him apart. It's to soon to make any calls on the supporting cast.
In conclusion I'm eagerly looking forward to the next episode.
It is basically the same.
Zombies instead of titans, one stubborn character, weird governmen,t people living in fear...
Both have people living in protected zones in fear of invading and dangerous creatures that aren't well understood.
As soon as episode one of Kabaneri began I thought "Attack on Titan!" with zombies instead of giants. Both anime have a lead male who is somehow more involved with the enemy (giants or zombies) than the average person and in a way is half human and half enemy. The setting is during a time when humans have built a city within a wall and cut off from the rest of the world for the most part. The main character has a passion to protect the humans even though many of the humans fear him because he is part monster. It will be interesting to see where Kabaneri goes. It might just end up better than attack on titan. Either way, if you liked one, you will probably like the other.
Yeah those two shows are the best. Lots of blood and violence, many people dying. Have fun watching
Kabaneri and AoT are very very similar:
-Wit Studio, Hiroyuki Sawano music, cinematic feel, unique art style, fluid fight scene animation, lots of blood/deaths/violence, similar pacing
-walled fortresses surrounding isolated cities, apocalyptic steampunk fantasy, quasi-historical setting (Edo-period Japan in Kabaneri, anachronistic elements of different European time periods corresponding with different levels of cities)
-relentless grim dark tone, harsh ethical choices of abandonment and suicide, greedy people who only care about their own survival, trampling others, corrupt police force that the MC derides as cowards, oppressive hierarchy, government being brutal to its own people
-undead monsters (zombies in Kabaneri, man-eating Titans in AoT) outnumbering a dwindling population of humans, monsters can only be killed by destroying a certain part of their body
-bloodthirsty MC who doesn't want humanity to hide behind walls anymore and starts fighting back against the monsters, insanely determined to eliminate the monsters and protect humanity despite others fearing him, tragic backstorywith family death
-highly skilled and deadly female lead, MC's loyal friend who refuses to abandon him
-MINOR SPOILERS: first episode invasion and evacuation, when the initial attack occured MC goes back to his house to get his secret weapon, human-monster hybrids that are humanity's last hope, MC having to face much distrust and suspicion that he's one of the monsters
Same studio and concpet - giant creatures are killing humans. Both main characters gets affected by Titan and Kabaneri. Both main characters lost their loves ones. Both main characters are trying to protect humans. Both main characters are killing those who are attacking humans. Both main characters had to defend their humanity. Both main characters had friends who defended them and accepted their inhumanity. Both main characters lost home. Both main cities were affected by Titans/Kabaneri.Oh let me thing... AoT didn't had a train yet. But I guess these anime are unique right... Like all of these ideas are original. :) yay
This anime should in be at the very top of the list. Not only does this anime give off the same vibe of Attack On Titan, but it is also hosted by the exact same director! If you want to watch a show that is very, very similar to Attack On Titan, then please ignore everything and everyone else on the list of recommendations list for now, and go and watch this anime. It's a must and it will not disappoint i.e. it is so similar to AOT it might as well have been Season 2 of AOT (lol).
This anime is too similar to Attack On Titan, the art style, the graphics and animation, and even the concept. Simply put, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is Attack On Titan, but with Zombies instead of Giants.Like the famous AOT series, the anime also comes with an OP character called Mumei, the only difference between her and Mikasa and Levi, is that the former characters are less annoying and much more intelligent. Either way, both the shows have a main protagonists who is unhappy with the way things are and wish to gain power. They both protagonists have a scary facial expressions at time, and recieve power-ups from the creatures they hate the most. In AOT's case, that would be Erens Titan transformation, whilst in kabaneri of the iron fortress, that would be Ikoma's abilities he recieved from getting bitten by the Zombie and surviving.Great animes, loaded with lots of action and cool fight scenes. Plenty of gore and sadness to go around. Not even children are spared from this anime's monster world. A must watch for all AOT fans :)
Humanity has been driven into a corner due to a species preying on them and they have very little way to defense themselves against it except for fleeing. Both in a sort of midieval to steampunk setting and the fight scenes are very good. The storyline of both anime eventually differ gravely although they seem very similar in the beginning.
Both Attack on Titan and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress are set in a post apocalyptic world. They are both about how people try to survive in this world.
In both of these anime the action scenes are done very nicely.
these 2 titles are similar in many ways like the lead characters personalities, the walled cities and cowardly citizens. There are many other similarities as well.
Both shows are produced by the same studio and also follow a similar storyline. In addition, some of the characters are similar e.g. you have a badass maingirl in both. Both follow the route of survival.
Both shows feature a post-apocalyptic world in which mankind was brought to the brink of extinction and has walled itself to remain safe. While the threat is different and the world they take place is different (Attack on Titan is set in a world similar to a medieval Europe and people is attacked by titans, while Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is set in a feudal-like Japan and humanity is attacked b zombies) they sure have the same feeling, so if you liked one make sure to check the other!
Same shit, but with a twist. Both has superb animation, and your average shonen male lead character.
While Kabaneri is an enjoyable zombie survival story Attack on Titan does a much better job with bigger plot twists and more likable characters as well as a deeper story that allows one to consider the origins of the titans and the main characters as well. Kabaneri on the other hand has fairly bland characters and doesn't really invite you to dig deep into the lore or even give one much of a desire to know more.
so yes both are enjoyable but Attack on Titan is far better.
Everything from the plot to the story is extremely similar. Walls protecting people, MC driven by revenge, horrifyingly strong enemies, dark setting. If you like one you'll like the other.
I just want to agree on this recommendation to help out. Now I'm just filling up hundred characters.
These anime have the same plot with different premises. While Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is noticeably more steampunk than Shingeki no Kyojin, the differences just about end there. The threat of the Kabane is equal to the threat of the Titans, with a select few being more equipped to fight than others because they have their feet dipped in two different pools - that of the enemy and that of mankind. The main distinction between these two anime is the ending. About halfway through, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress takes a turn from being an anime about survival against a large and overwhelming force to one of personal revenge and the will to remain true to oneself. Overall, there are many parallels between these two anime as they even have many of the same staff including but not limited to the director, Tetsurou Araki, and Hiroyuki Sawano as musical composer therefore allowing Kabaneri to have a similar feel to Attack on Titan.
They're both steampunk, apocalyptic scenarios where humans are on the brink of extinction, but an adamant protagonist and his companions gamble their humanity for a chance of survival.
This serie is VERY similar to AOT and personally, I liked this series even more than AOT. Although people who are interested or is wanting to see something as amazing, I definitely recommend this Anime :)
both shows are action packed and have a wide and diverse cast of characters. the protagonist in both is irreparably changed, making him both dangerous and valuable. each show also has the element of humanity grappling against the seemingly surmountable odds presented to them by a terrifying enemy.
Very similar premise, with diferent characters and slightly different approach. Not nearly as good as AOT, but definitely worth watching.
They are exactly the same! Kabaneri is Attack on Titan with trains (and zombies instead of titans).
They have a very similar story line - both are about cities attempting to survive being overrun by beings stronger than themselves; Attack on Titan focuses on Titans (large humanoid creatures hellbent on devouring and destroying the city) and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress attempts to survive and onslaught of creatures relatable to zombies. Both a little gory but action-packed and keep you on the edge of your seat.
If anything, I thought Kabaneri was just a worse version of AoT. Admittedly, there are plenty of different aspects between the two, but I just couldn't stop myself from comparing the two and how much more I liked AoT.
Attack on Titan is better, with a larger plot and a lot of mystery surrounding one boy. A lot goes on and brings the audience to a whole new world, with a whole new culture and a wide variety of smaller story lines
in both shows, mankind is fighting a desperate battle against monsters. The main character is someone who wants to protect others due to a previous experience, and go through some genetic modification. They both become a type of mutant species, part monster part human, and they use the monster part of them in order to kill and destroy the monsters and drive hem back.
The feeling of the two are very similar. Both are very well made, like how the fighting scenes give you an exciting feeling and how the music enhances the feeling of the story etc. (Maybe it's because they were directed by the same director.)
They are about surviving, death, fighting and protecting themselves from "monsters" which origin is unknown (so far). The main character wants to fight the evil side and stands out in some way in both. I got the feeling that the humans were powerless against the "monster threat" in the same way.
Both post-apocalyptic, if you can call AoT that. Both are very similar. The main characters’ struggle to beat the odds. To return humanity to its former glory. To Go “Beyond the walls”. To save humanity from complete annihilation and extinction. Both “over-powered”; both stubborn; a raging fire lite in their eyes. Determination to see everything back to normal, or as normal as can be.
So in both shows the MC becomes the thing that they despise. They are also both appocalyptic shows where humanity must fight against monsters. I love both shows, and each of them keep you on the edge of your seat!
Humanity faces an existential threat from an enemy that wants to eat them, to protect themselves they build large walls. Created by Wit Studio, Directed by Tetsurō Araki.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress turns its own drab and hopeless world into something gorgeous, creating a hellscape you might not mind visiting. Even if you love the way Attack on Titan looks, it doesn't take place in the kind of world you would ever want to live in, but Kabaneri succeeds more as spectacular escapism, especially if you're partial to steampunk. The show is always playful and generous with its use of color and light, even in its brownest and dirtiest places. There are bright blue skies, pastel pink kimonos, and even radiant purple zombie guts with fiery orange blood vessels pulsing through them. There's a spark of beauty in every scene, and the final product looks like no other anime out there.
they are really similar. the last of humanity fighting for survival against monsters. military, big walls, the main character being part monster, etc
The setting for both is a post-apocylaptic setting where the main character has the powers, transformation of the 'monsters' that threaten humanity survival. I would recommend both but they do have quite a bit of graphic scenes revolving blood
Long ago, humanity was brought to the brink of extinction by terrifying humanoid monsters that can only be killed if they are injured in a specific place. The remaining humans constructed massive walls to protect themselves, but one day, the walls were breached, and the monsters flooded in and wreaked havoc on the humans. The teenage protagonist loses a precious family member, and vows to take his revenge. However, he soon discovers he is not entirely human, and is in fact partially the monster he was trying to fight! He decides to learn to use his special powers to defeat the enemy.
There is plenty of action, gore, and exciting moments in both series.
These series have very similar art styles and atmosphere, and both their soundtracks are composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.
(However, one of these series is significantly better than the other, but I'll leave that up to you to figure out.)
Both have a very similar concept that I'm surprised that more people havent heard of the show Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.
Gusto kolang ishare tong napanood kong anime sainyo baka sakaling magustuhan niyo at sana panoorin niyo.Ito ay almost parehas sa anime na ni recommended ko maaring parehas ng story pero di parehas ng plot.
Pretty much the same premise. One is about giants and the other is about vampire/zombie things. Both are solid action/horror stories with excellent animation.
The plots of both anime's are very similar with the Industrial Revolution, military, type of theme. The viewpoints within the characters on each other are also very similar from beginning to end.
It's almost like Kabaneri of the Iron Forttress was inspired by attack on titan. I highly recommend watching both especially the later.
In times of olde, humans live in constant fear of demons known as yoma. These vicious creatures can take the appearance and memories of humans they have devoured, thus blending into society as they freely feast on human flesh. The key to stopping the yoma lies with the tolerated yet feared Claymores - women who are half-demon, half-human, and fully fated to become the demons that they hunt. Meanwhile, in a village, the young Raki has been banished; his only crime was losing his family to the yoma. Raki is drawn to a Claymore named Clare, and together their journey begins. While Clare fights the yoma plaguing the land, can Raki help her in her struggle to retain her humanity?

I saw the anime and it was perfect. however I found out that the anime is not complete and they have changed the ending so they can finish it in 27 episodes. 2 last episodes are fake.
So I decided to read the manga and it turned out to be even better. the 25 episods anime was only 50 episodes of manga (can you believe it? only 50) and the original story finished recently on about 200.
It was perfect!!!!
Claymore and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress are pretty similar.
- Allies using the enemies ability for their own gain.
- Don't use the ability too much or bad things happen.
- evil smart bad guys with unknown intentions.
- these aren't feel good animes... at all.
- pretty violent...
A gorey edgefest with monsters, where the protagonist must destroy said monsters. Both also have a gloomy atmosphere.
Both where they have to protect themselves from these monsters and be careful how much they use their powers.
Both shows feature protagonists who are feared because they are non-human. These characters use their non-human powers to fight monsters while they risk turning into a monster themselves. Both shows are violent, have dark/hopeless atmospheres.
In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans -- yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.
both are equaly cool. lots of blood and violence, definately not for kids
thats true man these two are a really good.storyline and art they ae just amazing this recomenation is 100% accurate and i fully support this state ment

If you liked Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress or God Eater you would probably like the other. Both are action, post apocalyptic type of anime in which the main characters fight to protect the scared leftovers of humanity that live behind big walls. In both they gain the power to do so by becoming a hybrid of human and the type of things that are taking out human kind These are just a couple of the similarities between the 2 anime there are many character personality similarities and other story similarities as well.
The MC in both anime have so much in common, they would both do anything to protect the ones they love. I also feel like the storyline is close to each other. They both take place in a post-apocalyptic future. You can also compare the Kabane with the Aragami. I was also reminded in both of the anime how they received their power.
They both have intese battle scenes and are both amazing and very intresting series. Although the story lines are different I think if you enjoyed ethier of these anime you would enjoy the other as well!. Both of the main characters are simular in a way, they never give up no matter the circumstances. I highly recommend both of these anime!

If you liked HOTD or KOTIF, you'd like the other because both of them have their own casts of characters struggling to survive an environment full of blood-thirsty zombies. And both series also have badass female characters.
Both are very good takes on zombie apocalypses in mostly realistic worlds. They pull no punches and are extremely bloody. They include extremely badass action scenes thoughout the series that wont leave you disappointed.
They are all running from a horde of zombies, but Highschool of the Dead has lighter friendlier themes

The best anime of all time, everything else is irrelevant compared to it.
Nothing can come even close in terms of projecting the story, characters, soundtrack, war, atmosphere, mood, sadness, tragedy, love, hate, life, depression, death, sickness, anxiety, void, helpnessess, loneliness.
An emotinal art masterpiece that transcendence's every other media also (film, book, comic, picture, painting, photo) with similiar thematic.
If you enjoyed blood and action, you'll like Berserk as well. Both have great animation, soudtracks and a question of humanity.
In the year 2977, humanity has long passed its peak; machines are able to perform any task a human can, and people have succumbed to apathy. However, there remains one who refuses to accept such an existence: Captan Harlock, a pirate who sails the sea of stars aboard his ship, the Arcadia. He is feared and loathed by most inhabitants of Earth, and yet he is their only hope against the Mazones, a strange alien race of beautiful women that threatens humanity. Thus begins a lonely battle in which Harlock and the crew of Arcadia struggle to stay true to their ideals, while slowly unravelling the sad tale of the Mazones.
Here comes Captain Harlock to boost interest again by making Earth a place full of lazy, selfish, bored, gutless, bureaucratic capitalists, rotting away in the hollow pleasures of technology, without ever having improved their manners or mentality to hate, mock, and be afraid of anything different. The protagonist is in fact a space pirate, who pretty much got fed up with all this pointless conformitism, boards his most awesome scull themed steampunk spaceship and goes to live free as a bird in the vast regions of space.
It's the 1930s, and Mafia groups fight for supremacy in American cities. Young Firo joins the secretive Camorra group; a meek street boy, Jacuzzi, finds himself the leader of a gang of thugs; an alchemist is producing a liquor of immortality, and a homunculus tries to retrieve it; and upbeat thieves Isaac and Miria head to New York after failing to strike gold in California. They ride the novel train, the Flying Pussyfoot, across the continent. However they find themselves embroiled in a ruckus caused by gangs, terrorists, serial killers, and others as multiple stories intertwine and unfold on this fateful ride. All are haunted and hunted by the legendary Rail Tracer...

If you liked this anime with great animation and such a "unique idea - Train" you should also watch Baccano. You won't believe it, but it has a train too.Ok to be more serious -both have a nice animation. Baccano is more realistic, whilst Kabaneri has a modern animation style. Nice sountracks. Story - so I far I liked baccano. But Kabaneri is nothing new ( oh the unique train) and just a copy of AoT with train... :D

While Rail Wars! certainly lacks in many departments, it is very similiar to Kabaneri no Train Simulator. In Essence, Kabaneri learned to hide its flaws behind beatiful body shots and steaming engines. But to a real expert, a real train conductor, these flaws are clearly apparent.. like the difference between night and day.
In Rail Wars! our main characters are pursuing their dream to become real train staff that support our beloved iron fortresses. While it ultimately fails to introduce good music, good characters and a interesting narrative. It at least understood its purpose of showing the laymen how the worklife of a real train staff is supposed to be. I envy its honesty in trying to give viewers a realistic outlook on their lives but failing along the way to appeal to the masses.
In conclusion, watch Rail Wars! if you want a realistic take on the work of train personnel and Kabaneri of the "Iron Fortress" (jp. for Train) if you prefer a more shounen like potrayal of our godly transporting devices.
