A harsh review of an underwhelming anime, keeping any continuation in the manga seperate.

Story:

I will divide Story into 2 parts: Plot and Setting

  • Plot: 7/10. Decent storytelling with some unexpected twists and revelations. Marred by poorly motivated characters that are just "ok" for advancing the plot. Underwhelming, dare I say, lame, ending.
  • Setting: 2/10. Generic fantasy world where characters are given powers just because. Initially it may seem like there is an interesting system and source for their powers but it is never fleshed out. The powers and king system are shallow and lack depth and imagination. Swords of Damocles? Slates? Kings? Weissman levels? Reason for the appearance and characteristics of color-based powers and Strains? They are all just shoved in our faces with some aspects/origins being very, very losely "explained". Blah blah, kings came from the slate.

Animation:

7/10: Clean animations and ok effects for the powers. Art is decent.

Sound:

6/10: nothing especially memorable but fits with themes and good background songs. Would not look up individual songs after watching.

Characters:

6/10: Generic, stereotypical characters with the exception of 2-3 with some more complex/unique personality traits. The rest are one-dimensional and uninteresting with tropes such as "magical quirky cat girl" and "brash kid who likes to fight". Poorly motivated actions or at least poorly explained motivations. At least this time the lead male characters isn't some whiny kid who spends half the anime being a wuss.

Overall:

5/10

Would not go out of my way to recommend to friends/family

Would not rewatch

Will not remember it after a week

Title: K (K Project) - A Stylish Blend of Supernatural Powers and Intrigue

Story (6/10): "K" offers a unique blend of urban fantasy and mystery as it delves into the lives of individuals with supernatural abilities. The story revolves around a young boy named Shiro, who is falsely accused of a crime he doesn't remember committing, setting off a chain of events that reveal a hidden world of kings and clans. While the premise is intriguing, the narrative can be confusing at times, especially in the beginning, as it introduces numerous characters and factions. The manga/novel adaptation provides a deeper and more coherent exploration of the story's complexities.

Animation (8/10): One of "K's" standout features is its animation. The series is visually striking, with vibrant colors and dynamic action sequences. The character designs are distinct, and the urban setting is brought to life with meticulous attention to detail. The use of supernatural powers and fight scenes is visually impressive, making it a treat for the eyes.

Sound (7/10): Sound design in "K" complements the stylish and urban aesthetic of the series. The soundtrack features a mix of electronic and orchestral music that enhances the atmosphere. Voice acting is well-done, with characters' voices matching their personalities and the intensity of the situations they face. Sound effects during action scenes are impactful and add to the excitement.

Characters (6/10): The characters in "K" are diverse, each belonging to a different clan with distinct powers and personalities. While some characters receive more development and backstory than others, the series struggles to delve deep into the backgrounds and motivations of its large cast. Shiro, as the protagonist, undergoes character growth, but some viewers might have hoped for more in-depth exploration. The manga/novel adaptation offers a broader perspective on character motivations and relationships.

Overall (6/10): "K (K Project)" offers a stylish and visually impressive urban fantasy anime with supernatural powers and intricate clan dynamics. While the animation and sound are strong points, the story can be convoluted at times, and character development is uneven. Exploring the manga/novel adaptation can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the story's intricacies. My overall score for the anime is 6/10, reflecting its appeal to those looking for a visually captivating and stylish supernatural anime, but also acknowledging its narrative complexities.

Well, having just finished K i thought that i would write this review while it was still fresh in my mind. It was a great experience but it did have a few flaws that were evident as you continued to watch it.

Story 7

The story was pretty interesting and I think that it would make an interesting universe, however, we are talking specifically about the anime here and not about the K universe. The story did have a few gems in it but it was riddled with inconsistancies and I feel that it didnt cover as much as I would have expected it to cover which leaves you wanting more.

Animation 9.5

The animation is a-maze-ing! The fight scenes are well executed the character designs are great and not to mention the beautifully crafted landscapes. The powers that the characters use are coloured according to the clan that they belong to which makes for a great differential between the different factions, they also make for a badass display of SUPERPOWERS!!

Sound 8

The OP and ED didnt really strike me as anything special at first but as you watch on you learn to appreciate these things as they suit the anime very well. You feel that as the story developes the OP kind of accounts for it. The anime is accompanied by great compositions that add a different feel to each situation, the fight scenes especially.

Characters 6

Now the characters fell short in my opinion, they lacked a certain glow. There was evidence of development as well but from an anime like this, a lot more could have been done. I thought that a character like Neko wasnt needed and was just there for some form of fanservice. All in all the characters werent amazing but they werent all that bad, they have some fun moments which would probably induce a giggle or two.

Overall 7.7

I did like this anime but i do question its rewatch value, however, I would recommend it to anyone looking for something light-hearted and comedic but serious at the same time. Plus, the visuals really draw you in.

I decided to watch K, not really sure what to expect, and I was completely blown away. The anime may have only been short, but it was so full of unexpected plot twists it kept me guessing until the very end.

In modern day Japan, there are seven kings of colour who each have different powers. Between them, they help run Japan while also competing with each other. When the new colourless king kills one of the red king's men, everyone is after him. Unfortunately for Yashiro Isana, who looks remarkably similar to the colourless king, that means they're all after him. The plot follows him, along with many other characters, as they try to work out what's really happening.

There were also some interesting characters, who I thought were well thought out and original, and we're just generally awesome. There's not a single character in there that I felt the series would have been better without, and the series would have been severely lacking without most of them.

The animation itself was also breathtaking, which is not usually something I care about or particularly notice, so that was quite nice.

I would reccomend this to anyone, from people who like mysteries to those who like fantasy. It is a great series, with a great plot and characters. Definitely one of my top favourites.

k was a decent anime reason being that the characters in the story weren't fleshed out as I'll like them to be for instants the red and blue kings chemistry was way more compelling than the protagonist. I'd liked to see the history between these rival clans, cause for a minute I thought this concept was great Durarara but with superpowers and seven different gangs. instead, I got a story with little to no exposition, they didn't even show us how the colorless king came to be insane why the gold king didn't intervene why are their seven kings, who are the other two kings, whos going to be the new red king and when will the silver king come back cause his clan mark on neku didn't come off. this anime could have been way better if lead-in a different direction. one thing that I didn't understand why those the blue clan always say their names before they fight was the writer a big fan of power rangers.
