Well, the historic contxet is more or less the same, one just before the IIWW and Baccano in the happy 20', the animation is soo epic in both animes, and their OST too

They both have a similar feel. There both about a group of extraordinary people who live seperate lives but they also intersect. The time similar though the location is different. The way people dress and act is very similar.

Same art style. Same pacing. Similar "period" feel. Episodic-ish but with an overall connecting story.

ShowerOfSunshine ShowerOfSunshine says...

Both set in similar time periods with Baccano! (1930s) happening just before Joker Game (1940s). Both shows have an element of mystery to them and also have interesting characters. Baccano! follows a story whereas Joker Game's plot is episodic.

During Prohibition, the law held no power and the mafia ruled the town. The story takes place in Lawless, a town thriving on black market sales of illicitly brewed liquor. One day, Avilio receives a letter from a mysterious sender, prompting him to return to Lawless for revenge. He then infiltrates the Vanetti family, the ones responsible for his family's murder, and sets about befriending the don's son, Nero, to set his vengeance in motion. Killing brings more killing, and revenge spawns more revenge. How will the 91-day story of these men guided by a tragic fate end?

Similar setting, both have pretty swift plot twists, intellectual characters and both are very interesting stories....Just be careful cause Joker Game does not consist of one complete story, rather than an anthology of stories that all together explain what is happenning at the time..Still, very interesting to watch

ShowerOfSunshine ShowerOfSunshine says...

Both shows are set in a similar setting and they also include elements of mystery and are more suited to a mature audience.

Both have serious vibes to them.

And elements that make you think.

I found Joker Game through 91 Days.

lilamiii lilamiii says...

91 days is about american crime syndicates, while joker game is about japanese spies in pre-ww2 europe, so their historical context is pretty different. Also, joker game is not exactly a linear story line but rather a selection of stories which could or couldn't be linked.

But if you liked one, you will like the other since they both take the dark and serious undertone of history seriously and depict the nuanced troubles, fears and bravery of the men in action.

Both take place in 1930 and bring out a spy agency which has a collwction of best spies of alll time.

night raid has super powers in the mix tho.

mitch0o mitch0o says...

Both are spy stories set during wartime. The jazzy feeling and the historic elements are there, and they are even set in similar periods of modern history. They also have a similar "serious" or "realistic" vibe about their art and a bit with the storytelling elements too. Unfortunately, they both have some elements a bit more boring. but if you liked one, you'll definitely liked the other,

Both have military character and some six main characters taking place during a war. Both potray military life in a realistic style although rainbow is more of a shounen than a senine. Both are extremely enjoyable.

If you liked "Erased", prbably you'll enjoy "Joker Game". As they share the same genre, both of them explore deep meanings of the society and question values that no longer fit in the modern world. The anime "Joker Game", aside from the historycal background, interrogates the Japanese culture and it effects in the upcoming war. It is a beautiful work to be appreciated.

A story revolving around a military organization with more behind the scenes than meets the eye, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. and Joker Game both create political mystery and drama. Featuring comparable art styles and excellent sound design, the respective series' share a similar feeling.

In comparison,

Joker Game is a collection of short stories in an episodic format. It contains more action.

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. has little action and focuses more on intellectually stimulative driven content via mostly talking; this series contains more nuance.
