I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT AN ISEKAI! A spoiler free review. Overview Have you ever watched one of those poorly-written ecchi isekai that have no redeeming qualities? The ones where the only selling point is some animated T & A? The ones that make you question your moral character for having watched them? You know the kind of anime I mean; one or two of them come out every season. Well, imagine if a fundamentalist Christian group took that anime and removed all the ecchi parts, and then chose to for whatever reason (I'm guessing "Jesus") change it into a fantasy story but then forgot to remove all the video game/isekai elements. That bastardized monstrosity of a show would be I've Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills. Story Generic Isekai Plot, Mk. I: Protagonist suddenly becomes unusually strong so he becomes an "adventurer" and builds up a harem of cute girls he is oblivious to. The only variation for this anime is that it's not actually an isekai and that the protagonist is a farmer. By the way, Generic Isekai Plot, Mk. II involves a training/magic school, and GIP Mk. III involves a dating sim. There is no GIP Mk. IV because all generic isekai follow one or more of the three previously mentioned plots. Also, what should have been the epic, series concluding battle was only like half a battle. It was as if someone realized that a fight with the slimmest of chances of being interesting was about to take place and put the brakes on fast. I would worry about spoiling it, but not enough happened to spoil. Animation Done as cheaply as possible. I will give it some credit for not having any, not having many, only using the PowerPoint slideshow a few time per episode. Sound It had sound. The Japanese voice actors sounded competent to me, but I don't actually speak Japanese so I relied on the subtitles.  Characters Don't get me started. If you told me someone at Studio A-Cat was trying to win a bet by approving the story with the most boring characters ever, I would believe you. I know we are all used to the boring, blank-slate-so-fans-can-self-insert main characters by now, but even the women were a series of the most boring damsels-in-distress ever. Their personalities were so lacking I'm not even sure if they count as characters. They may have just been scenery. Conclusion Someone once said, and then a whole lot of idiots repeated it to try and sound smart, that the worst sin a story/TV show/movie/anime can commit is not to be bad, but to been boring. Well I may be one of those idiots, but I'm an even bigger idiot for watching all of this show.
