Not gonna lie, I was pretty intrigued during those first few minutes. However, the extremely forced melodrama & exposition regarding the new characters took the movie down a peg or two. Got disappointed when Kazuma & Ains were split from everyone else for almost the entire runtime. Boring story took too much precedent over the main selling point of this series: having all these characters from different shows react to eachother and work together in creative ways.
This movie would be an easy 8/10 if they focused more on the core cast / character dynamics, like in S1 and S2. C-level cookie cutter plotlines are annoying, regardless of who's involved. I'm not mad, just disappointed.
That said, I'm still hopeful for season 3, should turn things around!
More people should give this cute thing a watch! If you dont know what isekai quartet is, its 4 isekai gangs interacting with each other in neat ways that wouldnt really be possible in another work. The character dynamics are used to the fullest here, its a nice self contained story, and the bonds between the characters really show.
