Restaurant to Another World

Restaurant to Another World

There is a certain restaurant in the first basement level of a multi-tenant building in one corner of a shopping street near the office district. The historical 70-year-old restaurant, marked by a sign with a picture of a cat, is called "Western Cuisine Nekoya." This restaurant looks completely normal through the week, but on Saturdays, it opens in secret exclusively to some very unique guests. During these hours, doors in various areas of a parallel world open to allow customers of many different races and cultures into the restaurant.

Pretty much the exact same plot in both show. Person from a fantasy world visits a restaurant on Earth, tries the food and finds it to be The Best Thing Ever Tasted.

The two are exactly the same show, but Restaurant to Another World does it right. Restaurant to Another World is more focused, doesn't have the annoying text overlay, and has more memorable characters and episode structures.

CanadianTeemo CanadianTeemo says...

Both anime have the same theme, people from all social statuses, noble or poor, coming to the cafe/restaurant to try the 'otherworldly' (Japanese) food. The anime expresses the tastiness and texture of the meals, so when you watch them you get a mouthwatering hungry feeling.

Quartzik Quartzik says...

Both shows are centered around a restaurant in another world which can go both ways (meaning that they aren't completely isolated, but they also have some forms of attatchments to both worlds). They are also filled with people happily eating, but Isekai Izakaya experiences more difficulties and challenges. The main differences in these shows are the stories - the stories of Restaurant to Another World are centered around the patrons and not focused on the impact it has on the restaurant itself. Izakaya is more focused on the restaurant and the changes which occur, including problems which appear due to their location, etc. Both are very happy and kind - an atmosphere which radiates friendliness and good food - but if you're looking for actual cooking, Izakaya is the one for you (as they also demo some of the foods at the end of episodes), and Restaurant to Another World is more cute and friendly about the characters themself.

I would recommend both if you like watching either people enjoy food, cooking, or characters which somehow or somewhat have their lives changed by the good food both chefs prepare in these shows. They're good!

and after watching both, i'm hungry. i want food.

This is the "Great-Valu" version of Restaurant To Another World. Just watch this other, far superior show about fantasy worlds and food.

Because of the similar premise and overall feeling. Good mood; relaxing vibe; fantasy worlds; Japanese restaurant food.

Two different takes on the same concept, real world Restaurants serving food to residences of a fantasy world.

Both series are about restaurants that connect to a medevil fantasy world.  The characters in both series react to the delicious food that they eat.  Both series are very similar (though there are some slight differences).

  • have the same philosophy: "People of other words try" human food "and love it" Of course the fantasy worlds are different but they have a lot in common, they are both based on classic medieval fantasy, but they have a different approach to how they "teleport to another world".

Leahchu Leahchu says...

These two anime share a host of similarities with each other. In each, a chef and a waitress staff a unique and magical restaurant that is linked to at least two worlds at a time. Each episode focuses on a main dish that the customers ask for or crave. Patrons from past episodes also show up in the background or as guides for future guests in both, making the restaurants feel homey and well loved. Each story is roughly the same length as well, as Restaurant in Another World has two dishes per epsiode. The staff even allow a person from the isekai/strange world into their service as the show progresses. If one show was a delight to you, the other has more love to give from this genre.

Both series are based around foods being served to different guests and their wholesome interactions while overcoming standard social communication issues.the animation is beautiful and the characters aren't irritating, highly recommended for those looking for a iyashikei based around food.

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Souma

Ever since he was little, Souma Yukihira's main goals have been to beat his father in a cooking contest and take over the family diner. That's why, when his dad suddenly announces that he's shutting the restaurant down and sending Souma to cooking school, Souma is shocked. However, Tohtsuki Academy is no ordinary cooking school. This elite institution is filled with culinary giants like Erina "God Tongue" Nakiri, who does her best to keep a lowly short-order like Souma from even making it inside the door. However, if the snobs can dish it out, Souma can serve it up, and when he learns that only a handful of the students manage to graduate every year, he swears that the only way he'll leave is as number one!

They are both about restaurants that open to another world. And both serve dishes that blow the minds of the customers. But while the Restaurant to Another World has a lot more depth to the characters and they access different worlds, Isekai Izakaya has more in depth food descriotions as the restaurant stays within one town.An extra element in Isekai Izakaya is Nobu PLUS which is a segment at the end of each episode that provides insights into the dishes, the places and the recipes involved in each episode.
