They have a fairly similar overall concept, but the characters are different as are their motivations. So if you want similar stories with a different twist. Follow the recommendations.

They are mostly similar in story progression though Moonlit Fantasy is better and has a better jump between comedy and story

both are great shows that are mc taken into a fantasy world with magic. Also, both have great moments when the characters show off their intalect. Lastly, both shows do not focus on romance. while there is some there, it is much less  than other animes, and is never the focus of the show.

they are very similar in idea of being 'taken' to another world (kind of for sao) basicly, I was looking for something to watch after sao and found Isekai Cheat Magician. ICM does not take a heavy romantic aproach, which I respect, but SAO does a fairly good job with that as well... atleast the Aincrad arc......... the rest of the first season should just be burned. The first arc is beautiful and then we have... that... thing... *shivers*
