If you're looking for anime similar to Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, you might like these titles.
The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - that is, if their HP doesn't drop to zero first, for death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can – some forming guilds, others ruthlessly leaving their peers behind, and many tragically falling by the wayside or to the merciless monsters populating the lands...
The series have the adventure, dungeons (floors), love story and more in common. Both anime series are set in a non-realistic world and I recommend to watch both of them if you love game or role-play styled anime series.
The two have a very similar atmosphere to it and the protag's need to get stronger. The colors used along with the art style is very similar and I personally loved SAO and Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon. Im sure you will too.
So another first impressions recommendation, so to start off both have a RPG feel. In SAO they are trapped in a game and most of the arcs following are about RPG games. Then DanMachi has a very RPG feel, like the dungeon and levelling up, in a way the joining up with a goddess is like joining a guild. Also there is action and the mc wants to get stronger from the start, and so I think if you enjoy one then you should enjoy the other.
Both have very deep characters and nice animation. Sword Art Online is more driven to the VR fans, where as Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? is more of a fantasy setting. Buckle in, Both are enjoyable and give a nice fantasy setting but in a different time.
Same vibe: MMORPG and romance.except that SAO is also in the real world, and 'Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon' dungeons are the real world.
Both are about MMORPG's whether they're virtual or real and contain a side of romance. The main character is also voice by the same person in both anime
The storys are both a fanticy setting with a main charicter fighting to survive. The only difference is that in Danmachi they are familiar with what is happening, while in SAO they have to fully adapt.
I think that it has the same style of storyline. Also, the voice actor for Kirito is the same as Bell! (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
Strong protagonist? Check
Doing everything for that one girl? Check
Well animated and colorful? Check and check
Worth your time? I'd say yes it is.
Dungeons and the main character of both series is voiced by the same guy, so equaly awsome.
Just the overall feeling of the animes are similar. The art is similar, the video game feeling, and the main characters are similar too. If you liked one you'll definitely like the other.
If you like sword art online, you will like this also.
Romance, Game-like setting, and a powerful main character.
The story later will get you off your seat. Plenty of epic moments in this anime just like sword art online.
Both character are dual bladers also :D
Both have very simular style of story and general idea also both main character are played by same Japanese Voice actor.
The similarities exist as far as clearing enemies from set stages and a few similar relationships between characters. However Sword Art the main character is stuck in a digital world and is trying to escape. In this anime the main character is actually in this world and is striving only to get stronger.
Would reccomend for very obvious reasons. Dungeon / RPG game themes, same kind of harlem type romancing, and broken / OP power increases from both of the main protagonists. Need I say more haha
They have got the adventure, dungeons (floors), lovestory and more in common. Both animes are in a non-realistic world and I really recommend watching both if you love game or role-play styled animes.
Dungeons, girls, and rpgs style life. Very similiar in setting, although SAO has better character development
Both Bell and Kirito risk their lives to kill monsters and bosses. They're both OP as well with great weapons and skills and both animes have floors that you level up to get to. I prefered SAO because it has less ecchi and boobs. SAO can be funny at times but it is mostly serious, less lighthearted than Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon plus I think the romance is stronger in SAO. But if you liked Is It Wrong you'll love SAO :)
i watched them and i liked watching them so i think it is a good recommendation . and they are similar to each other
Both of them have themes revolving around games, dungeons, player towns and everything of that sort. They have a touch of romance too, making the viewer cheer on their ships while enjoying colorful fighting scenes. Both main characters are so lovable and have great power.
Those two animes givee the same feeling of wanting to live in that specific world where you gain levels by fighting monsters. No matter which one you start with, you'll surely enjoy the other one as well.
sword art online has a similar story in term of there being a tower/dungeon and a boy trying to be the strongest he can meeting many girls along the way. even though the plot has many similariteis their differences make the world of difference and both are great anime i would fully recommend.
These shows both have a light romance and heavy adventure aspect that strikes a pretty nice balance. While character development is a little weak in both, the characters are likeable enough. Both have pretty neat world-building too. Overall, if you like one, then the other is probably worth checking out.
-Both anime rely on a gaming MMO environment that is dungeon based with leveling up, so the concepts are identical. -The main character for both falls into the same situation of having multiple girls fall for him.-Both contain a fair amount of action (sword combat)
if you like adventure and a bit of mystery combined with gaming im sure you wont regret this anime
First off, I just want to say that both anime are amazing and they resemble so much of one another.
Now, you wouldn't think that based off of the two diifferent titles that the two animes would resemble one another but you'd be suprised. Both animes have the whole theme of leveling up in a world where you have floors and boss level that you are supposed to pass. The only difference within the two animes is that in, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? you have a normal outside world and your life isn't at risk due to a game.
They are almost the same
But is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon is not a game is just their normal life
The environment and concept of these two series are akin to each other and even the protagonist of each share a voice actor!
They focus heavily on game systems; leveling and battle strategies. Both have layers of boss flooring that increased in difficulty as you progress further which is accompanied by rewards. Also elements of comedy and romance are included.
Both anime have video game esque dungon delving aspects to it. The big difference is while Sword Art Online actually takes place in a video game with the use of VR, Is it wrong... doesnt actually have anything to do with video games and intead simply takes place in universe with a video game esque feel to it. Sword art online does slow down and turn into more of a romance later on, whereas Is it wrong... keeps the action flowing while still having some romance.
They are both alike in terms of fantasy and action. And although they both have, I would say, quite a few differences they are both fairly decent seires. (And although I like Sword Art Online way better, both are good seires to watch.) :)
Both shows have this action/adventure theme going on together with a little romance. This makes it both exciting and entertaining to watch these shows. At the same time they do have the this kind of game feel to them. Where SAO is in an actually game, is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon? happens in a world that have a game like vibe to it. Another word for this game like vibe could simply be fantasy. However SAO do have more dept and story to it than is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon? but they are still both good shows that i really enjoyed watching.
Action anime with a video game-like background. Admittadly Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon is not based on an MMO like SaO, but they are very similair in other ways. Well worth the watch.
Basically SAO but always in Aincrad with way more production value. Yes, the hero is basically Kirito. Yes, you won't die in tears if the girl dies. Yes, you never worry about him dying or losing. Yes he's the a meakly meakly level 1 turned badass. No this isn't the line for anime's latest emotional roller coaster, but yes this is the line for Transformers. Your in line to sit co-pilot in a fighter jet blasting down Bi-Planes with fireball's. This is a hero action movie not Titanic so just kick back and grab a beer, the fiery explosions and skimpy babes are coming.
The levels and the dungeons and the girls. literally it ALLL reminds me of SAO and Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon. SAO has a lot more development in the relationship of the main character and his crush but they both have romance.
This is definitely similar to SAO. The fighting, leveling up, even the main character and his girl are similar. I would describe Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon as SAO meets Attack on Titan. Enjoy!
almost all of they're genres are similar, based on rpg's thou sao is virtual reality while the other is in other world. there are many similarities, but sao take place in a more bigger world, and theyre situation is quite complicated . though both of them are one of the best ! :)
Both of these animes are amazing! I kept flashing back to SAO as i watched Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?
It's pretty much the same anime aside from the few minor plot differences. The main character in Is It Wrong.....(THE TITLE IS WAY TOO LONG) is similar to the main character in SAO (Sword Art Online) both want to overcome something.
These shows are very similar in setting. While one takes place in a VRMMORPG and another takes place in realtime, they both occur in a fantasy setting where there are floor levels, monsters, ultimate death, kill drops, romance, and stuff you would find in an mmorpg like runescape or elder scrolls online. People belong to different guilds or families and learn different skills, stats, and jobs that they use to not only survive but too move up in the world.
They are both action packed, full of romance and comedy scenes
And sword art online takes things to a whole new level, with extra drama anticpation and even sad scenes that sometimes make you want to cry
It's pretty good if you liked Sword art online. plots and characters are king of the same. Specially both are really action based with lots of sci-fi.
It's very similar to each other. Danmachi is a fantasy anime where characters fight monsters in different level difficult similarly to the characters in SAO where they fight different levels to finish the game. The main character in Danmachi, Bell is very similar to the main character of SAO, Kirito in the sense of their ability, they are simply just too OP.
-clueless and overpowered protagonists
-action and supernatural genres
This definitely has a similar feel to SAO initial story arc. They both have dungeon crawls, monster fights, and a MC hellbent on becoming stronger. If you are a fan of RPGs then they both fit perfectly.
they both have the video game aspect to them ,Although SAO (sword art online) is actully in a mmorpg while is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon characters are born in the fantasy reality .
I liked both because the main character always feels like he might be in a harem or might have a Harem,The Protagonists are innocent in the series
i kno i did most animes about fantasy are centered around magic and whatnot so they go hand and hand.
Both take place in video game. Sword online you pick go into the game but find out you can't so if haven't see why watch it! In Wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? the main guy didn't pick to go into the game and he think pick up girls online games our stuped but once he inside he unsure want to do at frist
Naive main character who keeps getting better and becomes op overtime. Tons of girls with huge boobs. Dungeons and clearing levels. Some ost's are pretty good, has a few same voice actors.
If you enjoyed the elements of fighting monsters, friendships and light romantic interest in this anime? Then you may also enjoy Sword Art Online series? They are both great animes set in a type of fantasy world. In both of them, the main character is fighting against evil forces and strong ties of friendship are made through the journey. This anime how more of a “feel good vibe” to it then SAO has. As well as the fact that SAO has little comedy in it, where this one has many moments of comedy. But the underlying plot is the same.
the concepts of the shows are quite similar in setting and the story in sao is good. I would highly recommend sao if you like this show
After a traffic accident, Kazuma Satou’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…
The characters are very similar at least it feels like it, and both main characters start out as weaklings.
Though in 'KonoSuba- God's blessing on this wonderful world!!' the main character dies and is found in a new world and in 'Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?' the main character is already born in the world.
The main character is very weak at the beginning of the both animes and wants to go on an adventure. In DanMachi and KonoSuba he's followed by a goddess who's kinda weak too and seems to cry kinda often (especially in KonoSuba).
Over time, he finds a couple of companions to join his group and continues his adventure. In both animes adventurers gain money by killing monsters.
Difference is that in KonoSuba male protagonist's companions are mostly useless x) and that the MC (main character) came from another world while in DanMachi he is from that world.
Both anime feature fantasy world, main hero ascension to power and multiple interesting side characters that help him achieve the goal.
Both are Fantastic Anime's and if you like either of these then the other one is just for you. KonoSuba is more Perverted and comedy focused tho, while the other is more adventuring and leveing up.
The plot + storyline are both similar in terms that they're both guild focused and both have a male lead. It's good to watch one before the other
DanMachi is about the journey of a young man who seemingly accumulates female companions while being in the constant companionship of a goddess and accomplishes many heroic feats.
KonoSuba is about the journey of a young man who sexually harasses every woman he has the opportunity to make a companionship with while being in the constant companionship of a goddess and occasionally accomplishing a heroic feat with the help of the few people that can handle him.
So yeah if you ignore the protagonists they’re basically the same show.
Both of these animes contain male adventurers teaming up with a goddess and recruiting other party members to set off on an RPG-style quest, getting stronger and growing bonds with multiple different girls along the way. Konosuba has a few more ecchi elements, while the other is less ecchi, but more harem elements. Both are definitely worth watching, especially if you like RPG anime or harem anime.
I'd say this is very accurate both Bell and Kuzma have a goddess in their party/family and both shows show how the main protagonists are growing and getting stronger by learning new skills and other techniques.
Both light hearted isekais with super unique characters while also playing on stereotypes! Konosuba is a bit more lighthearted as most of the characters in the group react in strange ways thus causing amazing scenarios
Welcome to the Little Garden, where people band together in like-minded clans, parallel realities intersect, and the truth of stories comes to life! The masters of this world host the Gift Games, in which extraordinary prizes may be won and lost by gods, spirits, monsters, and people of extraordinary ability. One dwindling clan has lost even its own name in the Games, and seeks new talent to make a comeback. Black Rabbit, a games referee, has brought Izayoi Sakamaki, Asuka Kudou, and You Kasukabe, three individuals with unique abilities, to this world to help return this clan to its former status. For the struggling clan, the stakes have never been higher; but are the newcomers just out to make a name for themselves, or will they really help the clan succeed?
Both shows have a similar setting. A strange, game like world where many fantasy races live in harmony. In both shows, there are funcional groups of people that work together to gain power.
Based on a story, these shows aren't that similar but judging from the setting and the environment, these two shows have a similar vibe.
The world of this two is preatty similar. We've got a leader girl Hestia(in Is it wrong...) and Usagi(in Problem Children). There mine characters in both of these are poor but with their new skills (Is it wrong...) or new friends (Problem Children) they can quickly help it. Also we've got perfect comedy and ecchi momens in both of these.
I think they are the same because in both stories they try to get stronger and become the top (bell cranel/Izayoi Sakamaki)
This anime, though seemingly similar at first, is anything but. Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is a very fast paced anime, with a quick plot, and quick introduction of characters into the story. In this way it is similar to Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren't They?. However, the protaganist lacks the OP charactersistics of the male protaganist in PCAW, and is closer to the classic hero starts weak arc. This doesn't mean it isn't worth watchinng, though. The classic arc, mixing in its own specific world types and interactions makes this a smash hit. THe busty character interation, and the harem qualities are sure to include some laughs, but the story just seems to strike a cord within the viewers heart, much more so than that of any other anime recently made in this genre. Though not similar in structure, If you enjoy one, then you'll be sure to enjoy the other.
In the kingdom of Urak, the tower of Druaga is a source of fear and death; it is the cause of disease and monster attacks, and climbing it is impossible given the ferocity of the monsters within – until now. It is the Summer of Anu, a period that occurs once every five years during which the monsters are weakened. Jil, a guardian, is one adventurer whose goal is to reach the top level and slay the tower’s creator, the demon Druaga, and finally bring peace to Uruk with the help of a powerful artifact found within. However, Jil and his friends aren’t the only ones who aim for the top; it’s a race to the finish!
This series is in many ways very similar. Both involve giant towers, fighting monsters, assemblling and traveling with a party, leveling up, and unique qualties hidden about the main character. Their names are similar in a sense and they rhyme. Both characters practically become obsessed with one of the main female characters which also inspires them to greater feats. Both main characters start out ridiculously weak even by weaker standers of other adventurers. Both characters face tough early trials and succeed where they were not expected to do so. Both shows even have human or adventurer settlements inside the giant towers. Both shows feature at least one episode where monsters somehow penetrate into one of the human settlements. Both characters are competing against other teams even one with which they have a strong bond and connection to (in on case a girl the character likes who also saves him and in the other his older brother) but at the same time they are also some times helping each other despite being on different teams. This especially seems true in a sense early on when both teams are still getting started. Both main characters acquire special armor and weapons as well and in both cases the weapon is so unique that they are practically devine as well as extra powerful in their hands.
One little difference too is, Druaga and Danmachi (the Japanese name), feel like they are video game stories but have not been affirmly established as such. Sword Art Online and Log Horizon it is established so even though it has similarites to both, it shares the unique similarity with each other because no video game connection has been affirmed yet. Even if this happens later the fact it was delayed so long still separates it a little from SAO and Log Horizon. SAO in later episodes strays from the central tower concept. So there is a little bit of difference there as well since so far neither Danmachi or Druaga left the central tower theme as a focus to the overall story.
Still SAO, Druaga, and Danmachi all center, at least initially, around a gigantic central tower with many levels.
If you are looking for a show with less harem, less slice of life, and has some more serious themes than what picking up girls in a dungeon has to offer: Druaga could be for you. It has got the young boy main character with good willpower that is righteous and wants to be a hero. There are plenty of differences between them and I never felt like one was rerun episodes of the other.
Adventures ascend/descend a structure full of vicious monsters for fame and riches. They is more going on than meets the eye.
When Haruhiro awakens, he's in the dark surrounded by people who have no memory of where they came from or how they got there. As the darkness fades, a fantastic new world called “Grimgar” appears before them and their adventure begins—but first, they'll have to choose their guild, class, and special abilities.
A world where you have to fight in order to gain money to survive in everyday life, where the characters aim to become better by leveling up skills just like you would in an RPG game. Honestly the storyline to both are pretty different but if you enjoyed the characters in one then they are similar to the ones in the other and I think if you enjoyed one of these then you would enjoy the other.
why? A question one sould ask before watching any said show. Why, my answer to 'Why?' is not because the two shows are simular or because all the characters just pull you into the story. No that is not why I recomend this, I recomend this perticular show because it is indeed, awsome.
Similar in the aspects of monster hunting for money and being in an actual fantasy world. Though Grimgar has a much more serious tone and the main characters are definitely not powerful.
Both Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? have the same plot. Fantasy world + skills + levels/leveling up, but more fights and ecchi-ness in the latter.
Both of these are great shows. They both have the age old RPG feel, and likeable characters. The animation is excellent in both, and fight scenes are engaging. Grimgar is a work of art, backgrounds are amazing.
Rumor has it that, in a certain guild in the middle of nowhere, there is an extraordinary man who has climbed all the way to the Silver rank just by killing goblins. At the same guild, a priestess who's just become a new adventurer has formed her first party... and the man who ends up rescuing that party when they get into trouble is none other than the Goblin Slayer.
While very different tonally, both shows share a similar structure. A RPG inspired plot where characters go on quests to aquire gold and increase their skills in hopes of leveling up. Where the shows diverge is how they decide to depcict this adventure. Dungeon has elements of comedy, romance, not to mention a harem of girls for our bashful protagonist Bell. In Goblin Slayer there is much more focuse on the dangers of adventure and none of the naive expectations of fun. Goblin Slayer is much more graphic and realistic in its depiction of violence that naturally follows our characters. Be warned it is not for the queasy, especially the first episode which features sexual abuse. Dungeon is much more shonen and Goblin Slayer is more seinen to put it simply.
Both shows feature a protagonist without a family accompanied by a loli on thier dangerous journey. Both shows also introduce tertiary characters that join their party to alleviate some of the danger. An interesting aspect of Goblin Slayer that I found refreshing for the genre was that our eponymous protagonist is not the "Hero" of this world. There are other characters out there to defeat the big bad, he is simply the hero of his own story being told.
Goblin Slayer is a darker more mature anime than Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? however I think that most people will find it a refreshing change from the normal dungeon crawler anime.
They are both kind of the same ecept the main charecter in Goblin Slayer was already strong, Goblin Slayer is not romance bit is very fun to watch.
Dungeon crall and game style world mechanics are common themes for both shows. Both also contain a male hero female companion dynamic.
Nice animation, pretty girls, killing monsters and making money, leveling up and getting better etc. Has some good sound tracks and potential.
Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic Otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
There are many anime I could recommend that are similar to Shield Hero in many respects, given that Seiyu is a vast genre. DANMACHI, as it's called in shorthand (Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?) is more dungeon centric but, like shield hero, has an MC following the hero-2-zero path. Like SH it si filled with fantastical monsters, demi humans, also elves and even demigods. If you enjoy yhebmore comedic situations and also subtle harem antics, you'll love it.
What it lacks in genuine heavy hearted hits it makes up for with fanservice, comedy, and well thought out drama.
This series has taken the veiwpoints of multiple characters and written it in a way that draws your attention to the big picture.
I would reccomend this for anyone a fan of dungeoneer anime titles.
Main chacater with his own harem, girls with big boobs, leveling up, getting better and stronger. Waves and clearning dungeons etc.

"Satou," aka Ichiro Suzuki is a programmer in the middle of a death march. He was supposed to be taking a nap but somehow wakes up in another world... What lies before him is what looks like the menu screen of the game he was working before his nap. He’s at a complete beginner stage at level 1. However, he had three “Meteor Showers” which could level a whole map. Suddenly, a whole group of lizardmen appears in front of him. In order to survive, Satou uses Meteor Shower, his level jumped to 310 and he became extremely wealthy. Whether it be dream or reality, Satou’s journey was now beginning.
Fantasy setting, action, adventure, harems harems harems. Both Dungeon and Death March have a lot of similarities. The Maze arc in Death March reminded me heavily of Dungeon with how they have to go through different levels and fight all kinds of monsters. If you liked one im sure you'll enjoy the other.
Both Death March and Danmachi have fantasy settings and RPG elements everywhere, as well as RPG-lookin fantasy monsters.
I actually watched Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody straight after Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon. They are very similar.
With over 20 million players worldwide, Elder Tale is one of the hottest online RPGs. At least, it used to be only a game, until the fateful day that tens of thousands of players became stuck in the virtual world, unable to log out. For these would-be knights, healers and magicians, Elder Tale is no longer a hobby, it’s a reality, complete with tasteless in-game food, revivals upon death, and boring NPC conversations! With no other options than to accept their fates, the analytical Shiroe, perverted-and-proud Naotsugu, tiny and adorable Akatsuki and other new friends must adjust to their new lives in Elder Tale, avoiding player killers and monsters along the way!
The Stats and Fantasy setting give them both a similar feel. the varied character styles make it feel much like how Log Horizon had characters left, right and center. the Fighting might be a little better in IIWTPUGD, but Log Horizon is a more In-Depth series about the game it is in, where as IIWTPUGD is in a previous time zone and focuses on life in this time/World.
Both are enjoyable, Log Horizon may be better for the more mature audiences looking for detail in the scenario and depth, but IIWTPUGD is still enjoyable for everyone.
Both have the RPG layout and are about whole societies that are used to the monster and adventurer setting. Dungeon focuses more on the single special character while Horizon focuses more widely on the world (mainly japan)
In the year 2021, mankind was defeated by Gastrea, a parasitical virus, and was forced to live within a wall made of Baranuim monoliths, a metal that is able to subdue Gastrea. Soon, the "Cursed Children" were discovered: children born infected with the Gastrea virus who possess superhuman abilities. Due to the Gastrea virus' intervention, the Cursed Children could only be female. Civil Securities are formed to specialize fighting against Gastrea, operating with the pair of an Initiator, who are cursed children, and a Promoter, serving to lead the cursed children. Ten years after the war, Rentaro Satomi, a high school student and Civil Security member, and his Initator Enju Aihara, receive a secret mission to prevent Tokyo's destruction.
got the same feeling to it, a non normal guy who has one girl that is always by his side and see as a friend and protector and she strongly admires the male lead and is open about it which makes him uncomfortable.
same fillings watching it, and i can't wait for next seasons
I think person who like fight's will love it.
