3S Review no. 67 (short, simple and salty/sweet/spicy)

This show honestly got me by surprise, it is not that it is great or anything, I just expected much worse.

Story is set in a post apocalyptic world, the world is now divided of course in the wealthy and the poor that are being oppressed by the military. The two protagonists are former military, they harbor a little girl that happens to be very valuable to the bad guys and they try to protect it, getting help from the resistance along the way. Now, you can’t say it is an original idea, but it is alright, the pace is fine for the most part and story telling ain’t half bad either, there is a plot twist that is being set up not in a perfect way, but in a way better way than most shows do.

Characters are nothing special, kind of stereotypical but they are not annoying, and the whole cast gets better at the end, even if the whole thing is as childish as being evil vs good for the sake of it, it is presented in an acceptable way.

And here is where the show crumbles, fucking insulting cgi mechas. Do you need me to say more, the show is about robotic suits fighting after all, yet they look unbelievably terrible.

Sound is thankfully better than the animation, so is the voice acting.

So, is it worth a watch? Meh, it is not terrible, but it is not that good that you can withstand the awful cgi, if it had some good production values it probably would be an enjoyable little show, still even as it is, it’s better than most of the seasonal modern shows.

6/10 story
4/10 animation
7/10 sound
4/10 characters
5/10 overall
