Hello! This is my first real review of something I didn't love on this platform but I'd like to begin reviewing anime from past seasons that I'm watching later on.

In Another World With My Smartphone is a pretty cliche trope of isekai and overpowered main characters but this one has hit me a little different.

Story - 6/10

There's nothing to really pull you into the story of this anime, I like the trope of MC dying by some mistake of the gods and being rewarded in the next life. It at least gives some reason the MC is overpowered, but the story that comes after is pretty all over the place, and thanks to the MC I mean quite literally. It's hard to get any appreciation out of the world or where things are as you'll travel the continent in a mere matter of frames (although this is intentional I'm trying to avoid any spoilers)

Animation - 8/10

I feel like there wasn't anything special done with the art or scenes in this anime, but it did feel like they did a good job setting up every scene with their unique settings for each area the show took place. I could see where a lot of people would rate it worse as for the most part we are accustomed to the type of animation in this show, but the attention to detail was actually pretty good.

Sound - 6/10

It was pretty generic from my point of view, I mean the voices were pretty good. If it is english dubbed I can't comment on that as I watched the english subbed version.

Characters - 9/10

This is an extremely biased opinion probably, as I am someone who likes harem anime and love the cutesy weird characters that go with it.

Overall - 7.5

It was just a really fun anime, waiting on the second season coming later this year should be exciting.

In this generic filled rubble that has been the seasonal releases these days I would say this one was worth it!

The White Monarch thanks you!

***No Spoilers***

This is not the type of show you watch for its intense story, amazing characters, deep relationships, crazy cool action scenes or the battle system, because it has none of them. Let's be honest, 95% of you that have read the title and looked at the listed genre's or tags know what this is going to be. Yes its cringe overload sometimes, with so many common tropes packed in every nook and cranny and it’s just a trashy show overall, but it's the type of cringe and trashy that leads to some funny and entertaining moments only because it is those things. It's not really trying to be super serious anyways and you shouldn’t expect it to be. Just don’t come into this with the wrong expectations and you can enjoy it for the cringey laughs and stupid entertainment that it is. In that regard it's not that bad either, it's got some really funny and stupid moments to enjoy and every so often you need a show like this.

I’m sure they were never expecting to get a S2 as they let rip with so many spoilers at the end of S1 and skipped so much content from the LN’s, but here we are with a S2. I'm also sure they aren’t expecting a S3 as they did the same thing at the end of S2 and seemed to skip even more from the LN’s. You know what, for better or worse I bet they’ll be proven wrong again for a S3 lol.

If I was rating this as something serious and it was pretending to be something it wasn’t I would give this a 2/10, but as it never pretends to be something it's not and gives you exactly the cringey and trashy comedy and entertainment you expect I'm much more lenient.

S1 - 6/10
S2 - 6/10, funnier of the two, but it's mostly the same thing as S1

Title: In Another World With My Smartphone (Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni.) - A Mediocre Isekai Adventure

Story (5/10): "In Another World With My Smartphone" promised a typical isekai adventure, and it delivered just that. The story followed the well-worn path of a protagonist who is transported to a fantasy world with overpowered abilities. While it had moments of humor and intrigue, the overall plot lacked originality and depth. It often felt formulaic and predictable, failing to offer a fresh perspective on the isekai genre. The manga/novel might provide more depth, but the anime stayed on the surface of its potential.

Animation (6/10): The animation quality in "In Another World With My Smartphone" was decent, with vibrant colors and well-animated action sequences. Character designs were standard for the genre, and the world-building, while not exceptional, managed to create an engaging fantasy setting. However, it didn't stand out among other isekai anime, and it had moments of inconsistency in animation quality.

Sound (6/10): The soundtrack and sound effects in the anime were serviceable. They complemented the action and emotional moments adequately, but there were no standout tracks that left a lasting impression. Voice acting was solid, with each character having a fitting voice, but it didn't elevate the overall experience significantly.

Characters (4/10): The characters in "In Another World With My Smartphone" were typical of the genre, with the protagonist being overpowered and surrounded by a harem of characters with one-dimensional personalities. While there were occasional moments of character development, they often felt forced and lacked depth. In comparison to the manga/novel, the anime didn't delve as deeply into character backgrounds or motivations.

Overall (4/10): "In Another World With My Smartphone" is a run-of-the-mill isekai anime that doesn't break any new ground within the genre. While it had moments of entertainment and some decent animation, it fell short in terms of story originality, character depth, and overall impact. If you're a fan of isekai and enjoy the typical tropes associated with the genre, you might find it worth watching, but don't expect it to stand out. My overall score for the anime is 4/10, reflecting its average quality and lack of innovation.

She's twelve. They had a discussion in ep 3 about her exact age. She's twelve. She shouldn't have sparkly embarrassing kyaa moments, with slimes eating away at her clothes. She shouldn't be repeatedly sexualised. She's TWELVE. Everyone involved with producing anime is a dipshit.

Honestly, this is a good time kill but nothing more. It looks like it's a single season and looking into I doubt it will be brought back. Plus everything was kinda wrapped up in the last episode.

The problem I have with this show is it tries to be more adventure than slice of life. The problem with this is the main character is OP. It isn't known of anyone who can do all magic, but this person can. The kingdom just gives the guy stuff (I know why, but notice how he doesn't have to go on anymore quest and they cut the guild after a point). All the women/girls around him want to sleep with him. Instead of sending him to the world with just a phone. They should've made him a semi god of the world and that would at least make more sense.

If this was more of a slice of life, then I would give it more points. Or if they allowed the real risk he could die in the missions and maybe get rid of the OP spell "slip". Then I would give it more points. But as it stands, it more than less is like watching a god go in the world, get handed everything, and yet fight dangerous stuff with no real risk of even getting a scratch. It is boring and the only reason to watch it is the slice of life stuff and not the adventures.

NOTE: If they do bring it back then I wouldn't mind watching it. But that's again because it's a good time kill.
