my very honest review-

first of all this anime is just mid, might as well says its a bit overrated. the story idea of a girl is dying from her disease might sounds good but how it ends just dissapoints me, it seems like they are trying to make some kind of a plot twist but to me the plot twist just worsened the plot and makes it less sadder, couldve been way a sadder anime without the plot twist,

while watching this, even until the end i did not shed a single tears, in fact i laughed at how silly the ending is. from the plot twist as well, they didnt explain why or how did that happened its completely absurd, NO it left viewers with confusion on what is going on and why is the reason. ps. the animation is great

SPOILER AHEAD

as i said above, it could be sadder if she died with haruki beside her, well if this what happened instead then it might be a typical tragic sad romance, but i'll say it will be way sadder than her getting stabbed ??? its very random and it just doesnt fits in. couldve been slightly better plot twist if they at least provide an explantion in the movie of 'who stabbed her' and 'why stabbing her' this really dissapoints me

okay so basically this movie made me cry. I dont really cry much while watching emotional movies but this one was really devastating. I dont know how to start but I just want to say the moments and the bond they shared was endearing. When sakura wrote in her 'book' - I want to eat your pancreas- I literally broke into tears.

I liked the animation and the sound quality was perfect. And the concept of their names and how they were meant to be together was literally amazing. It was a wholesome movie so if you have kept it in your want to watch list then watch it nowww!!! (btw my review was kinda short as this one is my first review so sry <3)

This crushed my heart and made me cry but it was amazing. I already kinda had an expectation of what it was going to be about from the title, and it fit the bill even exceeded it. Yes, the romance was a little lacking, but how they did it, fit in with the story they told and matched how they were portraying their emotions so well. That first scene really sets the mood for the ending and the middle was so happy (even funny at times) as the characters progressed and became closer. Some might say it's slow but that build up really did it for me, I needed a box of tissues next to me for quite awhile, but who doesn't love a good heartbreak every now and then. Right? It was a sweet heartbreaking story that I won't soon forget especially since I'll probably rewatch it when in the mood to value life and have a good cry. I say give it a shot when you're in the mood too okay. Whether it be now or in a few months, maybe next year, whenever you see it I'm sure you'll get what I mean in all this rambling. It's just such a good movie I couldn't give it a higher recommendation.

Let me start off by saying that this could've been better.

I'm not saying that it wasn't good, it was, the story was there, the theme, but the emotion just wasn't there. This movie was about a girl who has a pancreatic illness and will die eventually. She tells the boy who finds himself "boring" and seeing as he has no friends, she feels secure he won't tell anyone else about her secret. The two end up spending a lot of time together, to which her ex boyfriend and her classmates dislike because they are too different and telling her that she can do better than him. This is where things get conflicting to me because we are focusing on Sakura and Haruki's adventure while there's this other backstory where her classmates dislike them being together. It did seem like this was going somewhere, but it never went anywhere. So, while her classmates not liking her being with Haruki never got resolved, the sudden death of Sakura came but not by her Illness. This is where it kinda resembles that of "Ride your Wave". One of the MC die due to an accident that occurred so suddenly. But, Ride your Wave did a way better job at storytelling due to all of the issues that got resolved by the end of the movie to which I want to eat your Pancreas never did. The story could do better. I liked where it was heading though, I liked the theme where the joyful girl speaks to the silent boy in class and they end up blossoming this beautiful relationship between the two. That was beautiful because both ended up finding things in each other they truly loved. Haruki became happier than usual because of Sakura and even found courage by the end. The animation was fantastic but the characters and their development...ouch. Again, I am saying that this movie was good but could do better. I only cried when Haruki broke down but that was it. Ride your Wave was a rollercoaster and both deal with the same theme. That being two people who enjoy time together but one suddenly dies and the one who is left behind has to deal with the after mass of the situation. There's this healing process that has to occur and "coming to terms" with their loved ones death which does happen. Ride your Wave is beautiful in animation, in sound, and getting the watcher interested. I want to eat your pancreas does it's job, but only to a certain point. I was disappointed in the way the movie rolled out, I wanted more, especially since it caught my interest, but nothing ever did happen. Nonetheless, it is still a good movie.
