These anime have basically the same premise, just that Hypnosis Mic they battling with Rap music and VISUAL PRISION they are Visual Kei vampires competing in a song competition. They are also both animated by A-1 Pictures. Both are amusing and entertaining to watch.

Both shows are extremely campy and a lot of fun, with a plot that barely makes sense but never gets in the way of whatever the show wants to entertain the audience with.

i mean queercoded boys do battle of the bands, its the same flavour of anime alr !! both animes use cgi when the characters perform (some like it, some dont idk) and the biggest difference between them is just that vp has vampires. u want hypmic w vampires??? watch vp

Both shows left me feeling confused but wanting more lol. Both Hypnosis Mic and Visual Prison are A-1 Pictures animations focusing on music battles (rap and rock respectively), the world setting is a bit bizarre in both and, honestly, not very well explained so they both give you a similar feeling of having little idea what and why is going on. The plot consists of pretty boys doing various things together and the music is fire (and a way to gain power), so if you like one, you'll surely enjoy the other. The only major difference is that Visual Prison has a fantastical element of vampires to it, and Hypnosis Mic has more of a sci-fi setting with mind control and harsh government.

Both series feature competitions where teams fight through rap battles with special devices that create illusions as they rap. The fights in Hypnosis Mic are more physical. There's also something darker behind these rap battles that slowly is revealed over the course of both shows.

Mareep Mareep says...

both are about beating up people with your rhymes enhanced with a futuristic technology (hypnosis mics and a special metal thingy)

Looking for anime rap battles with a twist then look no further than these two. The fights in Hypnosis Mic are more physical however. They both contain a bit of the darker nature, however the music is well put together as well as the battles.

Both take place in a type of modern tech pop setting with very similar aesthetics. One is BL bait and one is actual BL. (If you're new to DMMd and 18+, don't watch the anime, play the game or watch a walkthrough on YT.)

Both of these shows take place in an alternative future and focus on groups of pretty boys. They are based off video games, and while they lack much of a plot, if you liked one I think you'd really enjoy the other.

Both shows have an eclectic cast of pretty boys who know how to sing. In HypMic the songs are more diegetic due to the nature of it being a Rap Battle show, but in Fairy Ranmaru they're more like insert songs-- at least so far. Plus they both have battle sequences that look magical.

While Hypnosis Mic comes off as a bit silly due to its un-realistic plot, I think these will apeal to the same people. They both have large casts of pretty idol boys who work hard to be the best in their industry. Great music and, of course, drama!

Hypnosis Mic and Sk8 don't exactly fall within the same genre, but they put out a similar mood and share the same theme. The relationship between the characters and their personalities is akin, and the music is absolutely to die for. If you're looking for something with a gangster-ish, underground feel to it, then you've found it.
