Hunter x Hunter (2011) - Reviews

I love this anime but WHY IS THE CHIMERA ANT ARC SO LONGGGG 

Man was this an interesting show. It took me a whole 3 months or so to watch it. Throughout all this time, I wrestled with if I truly even liked it or not. It's not a bad show at all it had very good moments. The plot and characters didn't feel like they were for me.

Story

- At times it got really confusing to me. Honestly, I had a hard time watching earlier on because everything started out so slow. That's why it took me so long to watch. The plot became more interesting to me when the phantom troupe came along. They were very interesting. It became so much easier to watch after that.

Animation

- The animation was very good!

Sound

- I loved the OST's that were used in the show but the never-changing opening dragged it down

Characters

- This show has so many amazing characters. I found myself adoring the main cast. Killua and Gon's friendship felt so special to me. Their scenes never failed to make me smile. Killua's scenes with Alluka made me tear up. Killua easily became my favorite. I really loved leorio and his scenes and I wish Kurapika was there more.

Overall I believe this was a good show but not one that I would watch again because it just didn't feel like ky type of thing

I have to admit Hunter x Hunter is one of the best anime I have seen so far. The Story is nice and is not boring. The animation are quite nice and good. The sound is great but the best are the characters and fights. Overall I can say its a great anime to watch, I can fairly recommend it.

story

the storyline is clear to follow, and flows well. there are many foreshadowed events and hints on what will happen next. some parts of the storyline makes you want to go "no", but overall it's great. even if you aren't emotionally sensitive, this show will definitely hit you hard.

animation

the animation was probably ahead of its time, and although it isn't as flashy as ufotable or bones, madhouse did a great job on the graphics. some parts are a bit unnecessary, such as some filtering and hiding. the hiding of deaths is also inconsistent, but overall is great.

sound

the music is often used to foreshadow events, which adds to the storyline. each character/group has a recognizable "theme song", and sometimes if an event happens that relates to the owner of the theme song, the song will play. a 10/10 doesn't mean no imrpovement needed though, as if you are nit picky like me some instrument mixes were unwise for the overall.

characters

no character is "perfect" and even the protagonist is hated for having human flaws. however, the writing of their emotional and mental complexities play out in subtle ways, sometimes almost perfectly. characters have from basic and simple backstories to stories of overwhelming grief and pain. the range of characters is amazing as well, and no single character is morally black or white. once again, 10/10 does not mean no improvement needed, as some characters seem to be neglected as time goes on.

overall (tl:dr)

great show, but wouldn't reccommend to people who focus and hate on the little details. if you didn't like kimetsu no yaiba (demon slayer), boku no hero academia (my hero academia), or any similar anime, you might not like hunter x hunter.

Superb anime. It's the absolute peak for the Shōnen genres in anime. It's action packed, with compelling arcs and 2 complementing protagonists.

The Chimera Ant arc remains unsurpassed.
