Both Wild Striker and Whistle are about washed-up soccer players who enjoy the sport, but suck at it, so they work hard and improve. Both series depict their struggles and efforts.

While Kazamatsuri in Whistle is hardworking and simple minded the protagonist in Hungry Heart is hot-temperd and talented. It's all about soccer. Like Mizuno in Whistle, the protagonist Kyosuke Kanou in Hungry Heart has comrades too. They are really awesome.

Both Slam Dunk and Wild Striker are sports series in which the lead character starts out rebellious and stuck on his ways, but later matures through the love he has for the sport.

If you love to see a rebellious lead character mature and develop through a sport in which he is talented or in which he is becoming really talented in a small amount of time, this is your anime. Follow the journey of the lead character to see his beautiful end result.

Both shows have a redhead tough guy with insane power and reflexes that takes interest in a sport (soccer vs. basketball) and is quite talented at it but often make goofy mistakes. Both are very cocky and talk a lot. Also, Both shows have a gorilla-looking character that puts the redhead in his place with a knock or two when he gets out of line for comedic effect. Aside from the sport in question, the two series are extremely similar.

Wild Striker and Prince of Tennis may be about different sports but they are both about a boy trying to reach his goal by facing off with stronger opponents until he reaches the top. Both have a light comical side and are a tad unrealistic.

For those who enjoy a cocky main character in a sports anime who already knows he's been blessed with talent, Prince of Tennis and Wild Striker have the main character you are looking for. I usually watch sports anime that involve the main character discovering they have talent in a sport, but these two anime were still a very nice contrast to what I usually watch.

You love soccer ? Then you can... or mayby you should watch one of this both anime series :) They are simply about soccer, the main characters love soccer and are fighting to be the best players. To stand in front of strong foes it's all about it and having fun doing it :D

Both anime are about aspiration and hard work, about "above average" skills, that the main characters have :) You can see friedship, joy and sorrow when the both teams are trying their best to achieve theire goals. You can feel the ambition from Tsubasa and Kyosuke and that's so interesting :)

When you watch both anime series you'll see that they are not the same in some aspects like in Hungry Heart you'll have more funny scenes and more "school live" elements. And of course both main characters have different personalitys, they aren't similar at all xD

Have fun wathing them :) it's worth it but a say it.. the both series are for soccer fans, there are other aspects in that you could enjoy, but mainly they are about soccer fights, fighting with more stronger enemies and so on.

Both show a persons journey into becoming one of the best high school soccer players around. These series also both involve alot of heavy soccer action, perfect for the anime and soccer fan.

Fuma Fuma says...

Both of these series are about epic battles in soccer and how 3 guys teamwork can help develop a team despite differences, they also share a bit about rules and regulations for those who don't know much about the game. Both as a whole share great characters that develop greatly and a little romance and comedy well placed to keep you wanting more. The last aspect that will make you love both is how they both end leaving you with the hunger for more.

The main characters are always compared to their brothers who are genius midfielders. Due to this reason they both have quit soccer. They are also both amazing strikers, having both their brother's respect. They're both really great and you should watch either one of them.

Dear Boys is a story about determination to excel in a sport in which you love and also have fun at the same time. The tension as underdogs in the whole prefecture with only 5 players. How this team struggle to win, setbacks, teamwork, a purpose in life. This doesn't go with just basketball it can also go with schoo, relationships and those that we love. This could also go with how we do strive for things that we want to win or do. If you enjoyed Hungry Heart Wild Striker then you would enjoy this but there may be some differences. Most maybe the same and most may not be the same so do enjoy watching Dear Boys.
