Cringe, poorly written story. Pedophilic content. Absolutely no understanding of basic tiddy physics.
I must say that, Highschool of the dead, is yet one of the best Anime made this 2010. If you are into action, suspense, and most of all killing zombies! then you'll really love this Anime.
|*| To start of, The animation is amazing the figure's moves are lifelike, The artwork is may i say is AWESOME indeed in fact the guns looked like actual guns which makes it more interesting to watch. Ok I admit it the girls in the anime looked hot, i mean ARE HOT, totally hot.
|*| Next, the idea for the Characters are really unique. which is good because it means they have originality that we all enjoy from anime/s. Although one thing bothers me is that theres a dog with them. First of all the zombies there are blind but not deaf so any sound you make will point out your direction. Dogs when they see something unusual they tend to bark and when that happens all the zombies around you will find out where you are and eventually come for you.
|*| Sound. The sounds used are also great. It gives the Series more personality. The gunshots are realistic, The engine of the vehicles they haver there sounds like real vehicles. The expressions on the voices of the characters are really convincing.( Iam talking about the original language used- japanese).
|*| The story however lacks details and information. Like, Where did the zombies come from? and why are there zombies. Ok i know that maybe they are planning to put that on the second season and that maybe the season 1 is just a teaser that is if they are really going to make a season 2 (I Hope so). Still the story is good.
Overall i give this anime a score of 8/10
As it stands this is my all time favourite zombie anime... Not that there is much to choose from in terms of the zombie genre in anime but still this is worth the time to watch. I gave Highschool of the dead a 9.7 because hey nothing is perfect.. hrmm maybe Clannad but lets no go there especially when this is kinda on the other end of the spectrum.
From the beginning to the end I was hooked, finishing all 12 episodes and OVA in a night. Although not much of a feat to watch 13 episodes in one go, the fact that I was never bored throughout these 13 episodes and was left wanting more does say something.
Highschool of the dead is the typical zombie setting that most zombies hunters dream of. Sitting in school one day when suddenly zombies start to infiltrate your school and try and kill all of your friends and you will be damned if your gonna let that slide without a few gory zombie killing scenes along the way. To summarise zombies invade the school and a bunch of school friends / aquaintances join forces to survive this apocalyptic nightmare (or dream =P). They initially start by trying to make it across the city to find their loved ones but along the way there is masses of comedy, romance, bloody zombie violence and more panty shots then.. umm.. you can poke a stick at or something? Although a lot of the pantyshots are of zombies, which is disturbing.. yet somewhat arousing.. Anyways.. Ahem..
The character development and progression of the story was really well written with minimal to no plot holes and nothing that leaves you with a feeling that something was left out. The action and animation used was crisp and looked nice as you watched zombie brains splatter across the pavement and although there was a lot of epic, action scenes.. There were also a few scenes that involved the main character and a motorbike where your left thinking "ermm.. what?". Not for any disturbing reasons it's just some of the things he does one moment don't make sense with some things later on.
Ofc since there is a lot of ecchi there comes a lot of comedy, since they both go together like apples and pies or vegemite and cheese or whipped cream and everything but i think thats just me.. anyways the comedy left me loling at just about every episode and in spite of its severe ecchiness it still managed to be in the top 300.. Take that haters of ecchiness.
I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who likes action, apocalypses, comedy, ecchi and has a lust for watching zombies being beaten to bloody pulps. HOTD FTW =3
Although there are a few things I am expecting in season 2 (when it finaly comes out) and if it does not meat those expectations then season 2 may not recieve as high a score, however if it does, then who knows it may even reach magical 10 land lol
Oh- my I have a new anime love. Mostly this love comes from a love of Zombie Movies: Night of the Living dead, Dawn of the dead, Shawn of the dead, and everything inbetween. (I High School of the Dead is delightful as anything made for the big screen. A world wide pandemic has already taken out the US President- (who speaks Japaneese). Over in Japan two high school boys have escaped with three of thier friends and the school nurse. Luckliy H.O.T.D. is also an Ecchi anime; so there is the foxy upper classman who is on the fencing team; the genius (who reminds me of Washu from all those Tenchi series); the cute girl next door (who Takashi, 1 of the boys, has been cruching on for eva); oh and then there is the school nurse...
Ah- ecchi and zombie appolocypise I never knew you'd be like chocholate and peanut-butter. H.O.T.D. is not only a styleized gore fest the poression from high schooler to gun toating ass-kicker is something that each chracter deals with in his/her own way. The school nurse, Shizuka, seems a bit to bubbly to deal yet. But he dorky gamer, Kouta, also happens to be a gun freak eagerly mows down the hords of the undead from the get-go.
I've seen some bad zombie movies- (and enjoyed them simply because they were bad)- and this anime's Zombieness is top notch. The cause is still unknown, as eposide 8: the DEAD way home just aired, but their reanimated brians (think Night of the Living Dead) leaves hearing as thier only non dead sense. Thus the high school crew saves and adopts a little girl and a stray puppy, on the way to reunite with family memebers.
Guns and violence, girls of every flavor (even jailbait!), and a dog! I don't know if I need to say more but I will.... Great fight sceens compleate with breats that defy the logics of human flexabilty. (Watch the linked eposide to see what I mean) Pantie shots, nosebleeds- good olde Japanesse perverted moments to giggle at.
All who like any animes (like Gantz) or any kind of zombie movie will be glad they feasted thier peepers on this show.
(This anime is #1 with a bullet!)
^Totally nessary to fire the gun like this.^
Introduction:
Takashi Kumoro was just a 17 year old high schooler, until "there was someone at the school gate, P.E. Teacher went to check it out and something happened. And now that P.E. Teacher are killing others". Sounds interesting? Then skip this and watch it, so you can experience the bgm, character development and animation yourself. Other than that, continue:
Animation: The animation was great because since the studio "Madhouse" makes smooth and detailed anime, its no wonder H.O.T.D also has that kind of feeling. The best effect in the anime were the blood effect, like when Takashi hits 'them' blood splatter as it have to and they don't exaggerate with the effect or limiting it. Although some fanservice annoys me.
Sound/BGM:The opening is "HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD" by Kishida Kyodan and The Akeboshi rockets and the ending likes to change but they are sung by Maon Kurasaki. The op fits perfectly with the animation and the anime itself, while the ED fits but since there is little animation during the ED, i can't really review it.
Characters: Since character development is important in the series, i'll just show you the picture and their seiyuu.
From Left to right: (Kohta Hirano, Saya Takagi, Takashi Kumoro, Rei Miyamoto and Saeko Busujima.) [note: This is not all of the main char, but i can't find them all together, so i print screen this image and yeah.]
Seiyuu:order>Character of H.O.T.D:Seiyuu(same seiyuu but different character i known for)
Kohta Hirano:Nobuyuki Hiyama(Hiei)
Saya Takagi: Eri Kitamura(Ami Kawashima)
Takashi Kumoro: Jun'ichi Suwabe(Grimmjow Jeagerjaques)
Rei Miyamoto: Marina Inoue(Kanmuri Shigeru)
Saeko Busujima: Miyuki Sawashiro(Yomi Takanashi[just watched BRS recently)
Overall: Its a good anime and i am planning to finish this( i just finished ep 5). If you like the RE(resident evil), some fanservice you'll like, other than that, try it, you like it, you watch it!
Please do understand some of this could be my point of view, so if its bad for you, don't watch. Simple as that.
