This Season was awesome in my opinion! The negative reviewers have some valid points but I think they are being harsh with the ratings. So I'll break it down how I saw it.  Negatives: Story pacing uneven, some characters got no development, story gets confusing as some critical plot points are glossed over, content felt rushed or crammed So yeah, the negatives have some issues but although that's the way it is, I still wanted to watch each episode and each episode kept me hooked and drawn in. I feel the creators took some huge gambles this season, not all of them paid off as well as I liked, but the ones that did were amazing! Plus, it's a show that has to develop 12 main characters over 12 24 min episodes as well as have a good storyline. S1-2 built up a lot of the characters we know already so of course some will take the back seat but all of them are still included. Positives: Story was awesome, fan service great, fight scenes really epic and awesome, new heroes and villains incorporated, the creativity is awesome, really enjoyable Season can't wait for more as I heard 2 more Seasons are already confirmed!  So although the negatives are what they are, it didn't make me regret watching and the fight scenes and new characters really are a nice bonus. This show is spectacular and I can't await for more! 9/10 for sure, even with all it's flaws the risks that did well really make up for them

I'm a big fan of series, but this season make me really disappointed. They had a lot of material in this arc, even with some minor and mayor changes they could make good seasoned. Instead they mess up everything. Story don't make sense at all. They droop some very important events just to make story go faster, so they could put in some of they story, which destroy original story. Compared to original story it soooo dumb and flat. They even jumped forward and make Ise use cannon... I only hope that next season will not be as disappointing as this one.

The majority of the story was pretty decent and it was nice to see how the animators incoporated most of the elements of the manga into the anime. However the ending of this season of Highschool DXD left little to be desired and left a bad taste in my mouth. This is especially true when considering that they created an all new plot to end this particular season. All in all this would have gotten a 9/10 if they would have stayed a bit more truer to the manga this season but in this day and age that seems a bit to much to ask. Although entertaining the ending caused this to be a huge let down.
