The main protagonist get's to spend time with multiple girls. Individual sections of the anime focus on one girl per section. While this in Hayate Cuties is barely one episode the world only god knows takes more time to cover fewer girls. Girls in both series have very distictive personalities which copy or subvert character tropes common in anime or expand upon them. Both series have seemingly likeable heroines that one can feel for. Both series also have a ''main'' female in it that get's barely any attention. ( Maria in Hayate, Elsie in twogk )

Both anime have bright coloured distinctive characters in seemingly bright and happy world. The male protagonists share this on/off awareness of the girls fondness toward them. Both anime have girls with strong personalities that are based largely of character tropes but sometimes get subverted. Both worlds share a darker aspect to them that hardly get's addressed and despite serious moments coming up once in a while they hardly linger.

Both anime star a large cast of brightly coloured girls with very distinctive personalities for the largest part of them. Both anime share a tendency toward the same type of humour, however to love ru isn't littered with references to other anime. To love ru is certainly more perverted than Hayate for the most part and doesn't shy away from some nudity however both anime share a world with darker aspects to it but keep everything lighthearted almost throughout their entire run.
