I only watched 4 episodes as I have trouble with certain types of stress in shows, However I felt compelled to comment on how apt the I found the name even if it appears contridicory on the surface. "Happy Sugar Life" 3 possitve terms evoking an image of overwhelming bliss and a world entirely free of stress or hardship. However as anyone who has ever lived their life could probbably tell you no life no matter how happy it appears on the surfface is unmarred by trajedy or hardship and often those who appear the happiest suffer the most since they suffer silently. The maiin character is an example of such, at school and work she is overwhelmingly possitve and someone everyone can like. Yet she is deeply scarred by past trauma that still haunts her and the vineer of normalcy is at least to me as big a cry for help as screaming and crying for it. As someone with miental illness and who as worked a lot with others with mental illness I really appreciate this exremified example of of being okay on the outside but not on the inside

Imma say it. The ending sort of... Didn't make sense. Felt a tiny bit rushed too. Then again, to be fair, horror yandere animes don't have to make that much sense.

Would've loved to see more interactions between the main characters and their parents. I feel as though it would've been interesting to see their reactions to their kids' bizarre attitude, but that probably would've made the plot really messy.

Anyway. If you're into gore and storylines that fuck with your psyche, this is the show for you! It definitely left an impression on me. The characters' different outlook on the world was intriguing. Really put me in their shoes and made me think about how a certain set of morals or lack thereof is only ever 'wrong' depending on perspective. Pretty messed up, huh?

Would watch again.

I'm not an elitist or a frequent reviewer of anime, but I want to get this message through people.

A girl name Satou has to live through a world where she has to protect her one and only love, Shio. In order to protect her daily, peaceful life with Shio, Satou knows no bounds, even if it's murder... But is that the only thing to the story? Or does the story tell a deep message?

Story:

The story goes deep into the psychological aspect of people's hearts and how they are portrayed. Though in my opinion, the story was brilliant, there's more to it. Not only does this anime reveals the minds of sociopathic humans, but it also displays the progression and the core origin of it. The question, "How does one become psychotic?" has been asked countless times throughout humanity, but with scientific research and sufficient data, it is clear that sociopathic heart manifests from exposure of such act, especially as a child. There are a couple of scenes, reflecting on the character's past. Amongst all of them, abuse, misguidance, trauma, and etc, were all present, showing the cause/progress of each character's psychotic development.

Animation:

Not the best animation, but was pretty average, therefore I would give the rating a 6 or 7. The art was a little better than average animes I see(ave. is 5).

Sound:

The SFX of the scenes and the voice acting were very well done and I got to see Hanazawa's chaotic side of acting. Overall I gave it 6-7.

Characters:

Excellent. Absolutely love their personality, how they're full of emotion. Each character(personality) felt three dimensional instead of plane two dimensional.

To end this review, I want to say one thing: I rate anime based on how good anime is, not based on my personal enjoyment.

I highly recommend anyone to watch this anime, it is brilliant and very thrilling.

A world full os psychopats. Every character in this anime, if at the beginning seems normal, at the end reveals to be a psychopath. This is the biggest critique that i move to this anime : every character is based on the same psychological profile (also the protagonist, satou matsuzaka, is a psychopath, but a little more clever ). This makes the anime a little annoying if u are searching for something more realistic and balanced.

In spite of the bad creation of characters, i have to say that i liked the plot very much. I finished this anime in few hours, just to know how it would end. There were turning points that i couldn t predict , that got me anxious to reach the 12 episode immediately.

So, whatch this anime if ur searching for something creepy, innocent ( the G-love between satou and shio is like mom and daughter... there are no kisses or dirty scenes) , with a beautiful animation.

Happy Sugar Life made me cry near the end but it is also really weird. Even as I am writing this review I still can't believe an anime like this exists.

But yeah, I actually kinda like this anime like, a lot. It's really sad and it made me cry near the end. So check it out if u want.
