I know these are both anime's for studio deen meaning the music and the artwork are all very similar. but these anime's both have a similar story line as both have a magical asspect to them as well as the main characters are all involed in the church order.

Lost memories, odd juxtapositions of technology and traditional society, the power of the church, and oodles of qt3.14 bishies are just a few of the similarities between these two shows. If any of those things appeal to you, check these two out!

There are many similaries between the two. They both have the main character in possession of a demon, or is possessed by said demon (however you look at it). Both are centered around churches with priests and what not. And, both anime have bishies galore... So if you enjoyed one, you will most definitely enjoy the other.

In the mystical world of Shangri-la, demons and humans live side by side, watched over by a parthenon of ancient Chinese gods. But when normally-civilized demons start to go berserk, the gods require the services of Genjou Sanzo - a Buddhist priest with a magical gun, an evil-banishing scripture and a take-no-prisoners attitude. Aided by the ancient monkey...

If you enjoy demons, short and for ever hungry protagonist, mistery and some funny jokes, you for sure will enjoy both of this titles.

Hakkenden is newer, so the animation looks prettier. But you can't deny Saiyuki has its charming if you fall for a lot of bishounens looking for their destiny.

Kyo Kara Maoh!

Both are adventure/fantasy/action type anime. Main characters are teenagers with demonic powers. Both incorporate humor throughout, but it does not take over the show (Kyo Kara Maoh! being the more comedic of the two). Also, they tend to play with yaoi themes, although neither are full-blown yaoi-- they just tease about it. The primary reason if you like one, you may like the other, lies in the beautiful and loveable character design and overall feel of the story.
