I know these are both anime's for studio deen meaning the music and the artwork are all very similar. but these anime's both have a similar story line as both have a magical asspect to them as well as the main characters are all involed in the church order.

snivets snivets says...

Lost memories, odd juxtapositions of technology and traditional society, the power of the church, and oodles of qt3.14 bishies are just a few of the similarities between these two shows. If any of those things appeal to you, check these two out!

duchessliz duchessliz says...

There are many similaries between the two. They both have the main character in possession of a demon, or is possessed by said demon (however you look at it). Both are centered around churches with priests and what not. And, both anime have bishies galore... So if you enjoyed one, you will most definitely enjoy the other.

LailanD LailanD says...

Both anime are same as both the main character plays the same role, having a tragic past and have been through a lot. I recommend that both are great!

Both anime series have colorful artstyles and are filled with lots of hot male characters.  Both have a fantasy storyline that contains poeple with some sort of powers and plenty of BL-ish undertones.  If you like one of these series, then you will probably like the other.

Fuse Teppou Musume no Torimonochou and Touhou Hakken Ibun are based on the same Japanese novel series. Their themes & settings would likely appeal to fans of the other. Both are stories about men descended from dogs, or half-men/half-dog beings with supernatural power, and their struggle to survive in human society. Both shows also contain a similar mix of traditional & modern settings.

stardrop stardrop says...

Fuse and Hakkenden are based very off of the original story, Nanso Satomi Hakkenden. That having been said, that is where the similarities end, but the source material is a huge part of both stories. While both shows are dark, Hakkenden seems to lean more in that direction with a bunch of bishonen boys added. Fuse is much more of a shojo story (but still pretty dark).

Both series are historical fantasy/drama that involve spirits and monsters. Both MC's are stubborn and spirited kids who have close bonds with their spirit friends. Everyone is good-looking and there are lots of swordfights, spirit power battles etc.

Both of these have similar historical vibes and also deal with partial humans and how they fit in society. Along with religious orders who help control them. Overall very similar other than the leads are opposite genders.

If you enjoy demons, short and for ever hungry protagonist, mistery and some funny jokes, you for sure will enjoy both of this titles.

Hakkenden is newer, so the animation looks prettier. But you can't deny Saiyuki has its charming if you fall for a lot of bishounens looking for their destiny.

Both are adventure/fantasy/action type anime. Main characters are teenagers with demonic powers. Both incorporate humor throughout, but it does not take over the show (Kyo Kara Maoh! being the more comedic of the two). Also, they tend to play with yaoi themes, although neither are full-blown yaoi-- they just tease about it. The primary reason if you like one, you may like the other, lies in the beautiful and loveable character design and overall feel of the story.
