Haikyuu!! - Reviews

Listen I hate sports and anything that has to do with them, like I absolutely loathe them, but I LOVE Haikyuu. I went in expecting over the top fantasy like gameplays such as in Inazuma eleven (which I also love) but instead I got normal gameplay but absolutely fun to watch. I found myself cheering with the crowd and looking forward to the next episode of play. That's how much I enjoyed it. Also loved the comedy (simple but funny). I honestly go out of my way to avoid anything sporty but this I made sure I binged and I don't regret it. On my way to the next season psyched for more.

Also I've seen a spoiler for something that happens in future seasons in one reply, guys please don't do that, it's not okay. And it was so random too, no warning. Let's keep the reviews and replies to this season only.

There is something different in Haikyuu doesn't exists in all sports animes, when you watch Haikyuu you'll Never get bored! It's so exciting and realistic in the same time.

It talks about a short boy who wanted to be the new " little giant" in volleyball, and a selfish boy who try to be the strongest "ace".. it really a typical sports anime story BUT believe me this anime IS NOT LIKE THE REST!

The animation was soo freaking awesome!!! I was so amazed with the motivation and the drawing… it did affect how the scenes were shown.. 

what special about this anime, that all the characters (main & Supporting) had the same level of coolness "kakkoi-ness" xD 

Actually I started watching it just because Spyair sang the op XD  

I don't really care for sport animes. I use to play volleyball during my school years and just so happen to see this all over social platforms. I decided to try it because I still love volleyball and I don't regret my decision. This easily became one of my favorite animes.

Haikyuu is a high-energy sports anime with a character-driven story. The plot is fairly simple (play and try to win volleyball games) so most of the intrigue comes from personality clash, interpersonal relationships, and character development. Overall, I like its comedy and fun atmosphere, as well as their determination to improve. It's not very complex, but it's easy to get invested in the characters and their growth, as well as the different dynamics throughout their team and rival teams as well. Arcs and games can run long though, so if you find you don't enjoy sitting through them, it may not work out. I find the characters do make it interesting though, whether it's their reactions, inner monologue, mid-game banter, or pulling off some sick moves.

Anime Review #11 - Haikyuu!!

Watching this anime made me wish I’d joined a sport in high school...lol I’d been meaning to watch this anime for a while now but there was always something more interesting keeping me from getting around to it because, if I'm being completely honest, sports anime aren't really my thing. But this anime, however, it really changed my opinion of the whole genre! It was so cute and funny like the characters were just so darn likeable and real I was shocked! Plus you gotta love the whole slow build perfect teamwork relationship and enemies to friends trope hehehe (enemies to lovers between one sunshine character and one grumpy character is truly the death of me!) !!!!THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS SO BE AWARE!!!!

The plot: A boy named Hinata falls in love with volleyball after watching a game on national TV showcasing the talents of a player by the name of the ‘Little Giant’. Hinata grows especially fond of spiking the ball even though he’s short, but he doesn't let that stop him from reaching his dream of playing volleyball in the major leagues. He ends up attending Karasuno High and joins the volleyball team where he meets a boy from a previous match in which he’d lost in middle school.

Main Character Time!!! *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧

Hinata: SHORT KING! sunshine spiker and the best decoy! God he’s so cute and pure mixed with being a little hot headed firecracker god that's such a bomb combo! Wholesome crackhead who just wants to hit a damn ball super hard onto a court so just let him be happy please :-) he’s so wholesome the littlest things leave him starstruck and in awe and even though he’s only a first-year with shit receiving skills, he had big dreams of spiking in the big leagues. Best boy!!! Very good!! We stan!!

-Kageyama: misunderstood grumpy pants who’s all about winning and has a superiority complex at first before he becomes nice and ~yay teamwork~ as long as they still win though lol! He’s s really skilled setter who had the nickname ‘king of the court’ in junior high due to his egocentric attitude when playing. In the past he lived by the philosphy that he could win the game by himself so his teammatse ended up distancing themselves from him because they hated being his teammate. It's not until he attends Karasuno and meets Hinata that he's able to learn the ~power of teamwork~!! lol even though he can still be a mr. sour puss at times, he's trying!!!! Very good angry boy!!!

Other Characters I Enjoyed/Wanna Talk About!!!･:*:･ﾟ☆

-Tanaka: lol he's a big goofball buzz cut man who is a literal crackhead i love him so much. He’s always wildin about something and making crazy faces and intimidating the other competitors. He's a spiker for Karasuno and has a very lively and fun personality. We stan tanaka so can someone get this man laid already, he’s horny!!!!!

-Sugawara: wholesome mr nice guy, third year setter who steps back to let kageyama shine due to his superior setting skills. Suga doesn't let himself be overshadowed though, as he comes up with ways to help the team from the sidelines and when it counts. Very nice ‘mom-friend’ boy who’s always looking out for everyone and being super kind. Ugh we stan positivity.

-Daichi: wholesome dad and the captain of the Karasuno volleyball team. He’s a big softy but can also be intimidating and scary when angered but he’s just a big teddy bear who holds the team together toward victory :3 We also kinda ship him with the short haired queen captain of the girl’s volleyball team, yui michimiya<3

-Nishinoya: delinquent-type short king with rooster hair and a feisty attitude. He’s always yelling and being loud plus he busts a PHAT nut when you call him ‘senpai’ which is wholesome since he’s short and no one ever sees him as older. He’s a hella good receiver too and will deadass face-plant or use his shoe to keep the ball in play. good boy!!!

-Tsukishima: classic glasses character who had a kind of ‘stoic’ personality and likes to do things consistently and without fooling around. He’s a poopy face bully at first but gets better as the episodes progress. I still don’t really have an opinion on him he’s just ~there~. Tall guy with glasses. (frankly i perfer his cutie sidekick yamaguchi over him lol)

-Asashi: seems intimidating but is really a pussy lol. He has that man bun lewk going on and he plays as Karasuno's ace. He’s a good guy but because of his ‘mature’(?) appearance people assume he’s way different than he really is lol. I don’t really have much of an opinion of him either lol but i suppose i like him more than glasses guy.

-Kenma: setter for Nekomata volleyball team. Shy, uninterested type cat boy with pudding hair. He’s really good at predicting moves and analyzing situations in order to win. Even though he doesn’t have much of a major interest in volleyball, he still plays due to his genius. I like him and Hinata’s little friendship i think they’re both cute kiddos. We also stan nekos so we love him!!!!

Rating/Overall Thoughts!!♩♪♩

Overall I rate this anime a 9! At first I didn’t think I would like the art style since they all kinda look like the grinch, but it grows on you. All the characters were lovable in their own ways which makes you want to root for them and get excited along with them. As most sports anime go though, it can get a bit predictable on who wins/loses :p but it was still good! I’m excited to watch season 2 now because I wanna see them win!!! Overall I was surprised by this one cause I didn’t think I'd like it as much as i did, but there's just something about a bunch of twinks playing volleyball that just hits different, am i rite ladies ;-) They really do be stretching one game into like 5 episode though which is fine since they at least keep it interesting lol. You gotta love anime for being so unnecessarily intense and dramatic over the littlest of things hehe. Anyway, I thought it was a funny and charming show and i’m legit about to watch season 2 right after this since I finished the first season in 2 days lol.
