It is the year 2005. Twenty-one years after the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons resumed their neverending war on planet Earth, the Decepticons have conquered the robots' home planet Cybertron. After a surprise attack by the Decepticons, both factions wage a gruesome battle at Autobot City. In the midst of the battle, Autobot leader Optimus Prime dies during his fight with Decepticon leader Megatron. The Autobot Matrix of Leadership is then passed on to second-in-command Ultra Magnus. Meanwhile, a badly-damaged Megatron is jettisoned by Starscream into deep space, where he encounters the planet-eating robot Unicron and is reborn as Galvatron, the new Decepticon leader. With Galvatron's reign on the rise and Unicron's imminent arrival within Cybertron's orbit, the Autobots must act quickly and protect the Matrix or face total annihilation.

The original six-minute "pilot" featured a slightly different version of Might Orbots called Broots (pronounced "Brutes"). Rob and Ono looked similar to their 'finished' selves, though definitively more late 70s-like. The Orbots, while having the same names as in the finished product, are subtly different, and obviously unfinished. Even their combined form aka "Super-Broots" would go through some more developmental evolution before becoming Mighty Orbots.

Although Lio Convoy managed to stop Galvatron's plans for exploiting the powerful Angolmois energy, the Destrons refused to be deterred. Rallied by their new leader, the Destrons are attacking entire galactic quadrants in a hunt for the scattered capsules of Angolmois. In response, the Cybertron elders appoint a powerful leader to gather a team of heroes and stop the Destrons' plans. However, both sides of the conflict are being manipulated by the agents of Unicron, who desire the Angolmois energy in order to revive their fallen master.

In the distant future, an evil entity known as Violenjiger resurrects nine of the most feared generals in Destron history. While saving some inhabitants of a planet destroyed by these Destrons, Cybertron leader Victory Saber is seriously damaged. The leadership of the Cybertron forces is passed on to the heroic robot Dai-Atlas. Together with Sonic Bomber, Dai-Atlas must protect a mysterious crystal on Earth known as the "Zodiac" from falling into the hands of Violenjiger.

With Japan against him, his friends captured, and power running out, can Mazinger Z figure out how to defeat the holographs?

Meeting the attack head on is our hero, the hot-blooded teenager Kouji Kabuto who pilots the super robot Mazinger Z, constructed by his grandfather Juzo and made from the strongest metal Chogokin Z. But in this battle between Dr. Hell and the Kabuto family, many legends surrounding the Mycenaean Civilization and Bardos Island, as well as the secrets of Mazinger Z remain shrouded in mystery.

The evil robot Megatron, the leader of the Predacons, kidnaps Koji’s father, Dr. Onishi, to use the doctor’s knowledge of Earth’s energy sources to take it all for himself. Luckily, a team of good robots disguised as ordinary vehicles are here to help Koji get his father back! Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, has sworn to protect Earth from the evil Megatron. Using the information from Dr. Onishi, Megatron sends his Predacons all over the globe looking for energy, but the Autobots fight to stop the Predacons while not harming any humans. During these battles, Megatron must deal with an incompetent second-in-command named Sky-Byte who is more concerned with impressing his boss and writing poetry than following orders properly.
