If you're familiar with Code Geass, you should also be familiar with X/1999 which is the kind of the foundation for Code Geass. Guilty Crown has a similar story and tone to X as both are dark, tragic, supernatural, and apocalyptic except that GC is more sci fi than X as X is more inclined to supernatural. Japan is the setting in both stories and serves as the battlefields as well which costs the character's lives episode by episode leaving the surviving characters the not so simple finale.

Both of these anime surround the idea of a disease which is a threat to the human race, this disease can turn people into a substance like stone and then make them perish we that is what I thought it was like. Anyway both have these sci-fi elements and the main character is a bit out of the ordinary in one way or another. Anyway King of Thorn is to me a darker version of Guilty Crown and if you liked one you should like the other.

Both anime are about a young, male adult who is dragged in by the tide of war. Both series contain giant mechas; however, the mechas play a larger role in Gundam Seed than in Guilty Crown. Also, they are both filled with tragedy.

Again in both of these series the male character starts out as a normal student however gets drawn into a whole new view of the world by mainly a girl. This helps this male character develop and grow stronger, also elements of trying to save a bunch of people but in the end letting it change you and just move on is present in both anime. Both the main characters want to aim to get into a world where it is safe but ends up in a bloody mess, with horror of deaths going through both. Also fantasy and action are both involved.

In my opinion, both of this anime look similarly. The only difrence is universe.

In both anime we can see romance, super powers and great main hero, who becomes more powerfull with the passage of time. Action takes place in word which is filled with magic.

Daichi and Hibiki are two teens who didn't expect Nicaea to actually be real – that is, until the boys receive an email about their demise, and die shortly after. On the brink of going to the beyond they're given a choice: expire, or have a second chance at life. And so the two awaken to discover the city's been destroyed and they now have the ability to summon demons – an ability that a secretive branch of the government insists they use to help combat an imminent threat. For unless summoners like the teens put a stop to otherworldly invaders destroying the planet, the world will soon disappear...

If you liked Guilty Crown you would also like Innocent Venus because both have similar themes. For example, both series deal with a post-apocalyptic setting, with mecha and the military involved. Both have sciience fiction elements. In addtion, both series relove around a girl with mysterious powers. While thier plots may be different, both series are very similar in nature.

Tokyo Ghoul

Both anime explore what is right and wrong thing to do. They both present interesting views of world in shades of grey. While Tokyo Ghoul may be a little bit darker than Guilty Crown both works did great in this aspect.

Also what is really good in both of them are beautiful drawings and animation, captivating music and great action.
