If you'd like some traditional fantasy with much better animation and story, check out Lodoss War OVA. It doesn't have the dark gritty feel that Gude Crest has, but you'd probably like it more anyways ;)

Weathering Continent is a much better look at a dark fantasy world, with interesting characters and better animation. Check it out if you liked Gude Crest.

Both are action packed OVAs which features kick ass girls with swords in a high fantasy setting. The only difference between them is that Legend of Lemnear has a bit of ecchi while Gude Crest doesn't have any of it. If you liked one you'd probably like the other.
