The great beasts created the land, but humans stole it. Angered, the beasts began eating humans, who in turn called upon the gods to fight the beasts. In the age of the sword, heroes and mythology, giant beasts are hunted by humans for profit. Jiro, who makes his living hunting beasts, encounters Kuumi, who is being chased by someone, and in that moment decides to save her. As rumors spread regarding humanity and a mysterious experiment, together they seek to discover the world’s secrets.
This one started off pretty interesting, but then it got slow, really slow. The aesthetics of the show are good, but the took far too long with it and then rushed the ending. To be frank, Ep 6-10 were incredibly boring to me. I almost dropped the show. The main antagonist died in the most stupid, nonsense way. I'm guessing there was more explanation elsewhere, but this anime didn't give us any explanation. There were too many directions the story went in that made me question what the hell the story writers were thinking. Like, there's this Emperor apparently that does a lot of planning and talking, but seemingly has nothing to do with the story. There's a lot of background stuff and they are clearly setting up a part 2, but the show was poorly done so... ugh. Over all, I cannot recommend this show. The only thing I liked about this show are the different tribes and their various cultures. As an RPG or TTRPG, this would be a fun game. As a show, it just doesn't work.
The anime at first looked promising. At best, it can be said to be average. The idea of making the cleric a young girl is not that good. Jiro was a grown man, it would have been better of if he's cleric was a grown lady like it was in the past. Besides that the attitude of the female MC is just irritating. Other characters are decent, the cat girl, the black lady and the other race members they showed. The story is mid. The animation tried, but the change between 3d during transformation and 2D is not so good. But the 3D animation was decent. The soundtrack are just average for an anime. Overall, if you just want to pass time, you can watch but if you're looking for something that would hit emotionally go watch the trending anime, lol.
So starting with the nuts and bolts. The animation is only ok. The music is good, but the audio levels flux a bit. Most of the characters are pretty generic and straightforward. You main fight has suffered a loss and had lost all hope for the future but the maiden brings him out of it. You have a scrappy sidekick that wants to be a warrior but is pretty useless. A guide who seems pointless but is pulling more strings than expected. And an overly logical medic who is really not all that interesting other than to be some fan service. Kumi the maiden is the only one who experiences real growth in the show character wise, but that more to do with her being a blank slate at the start. The storyline starts out like its gonna be your basic adventure, but then starts into one big twist after another, and by the time you hit the cliffhanger at the end you feel like you might understand it all but I feel like that isn't really the case. Being a cliffhanger ending it hope for a second season, or maybe a short ova or movie the wrap it all up as so much is left wide open, mainly cause I hate when stories don't get finished. But only time will tell if we will get that.
