Spooks and laughs are your thing? Haunted Junction certainly is a good bet if you enjoyed the GSM movie. You'll find parallels in the characters, but in general will laugh more. Try it out.
Ayaka Kisaragi is the best at her profession -- hunting down vampires, spooks, and evil spirits who haunt the citizens of Tokyo! Ghostbusters, beware! The crew of the Phantom Quest Corporation is on the job. From vampires to the undead, there's nothing her hip and paranormal team can't handle... EXCEPT their debt, of course!

These two series definitely capitalize on the idea of a Ghostbusters clone, with random humor to boot. I definitely enjoyed Yougen Kaisha more, and it was a bit more episodic and lighthearted. In general, if you are looking for a similar plot with similar humor, this recommendation can't be beat.

For a hilarious pseudo-horror watch that is filled with randomness, check out the Master of Mosquiton OVA. You'll love it if you liked GSM for the same kinds of reasons. ;)

Shoko and Maiko Ougi are apparently two ordinary schoolgirls in pursuit of graduating and having fun. Shii-chan is the more serious while Mai-chan is more fun-loving. In reality, the two sisters are powerful exorcists from the Karura temple. Each wields half the power... Shii-chan can see the spirits, and Mai-chan can banish them. This is a spooky series with heavy emphasis on traditionally Japanese occult themes.
