Both anime are quite different in story, but animation is great and they both have cyborgs, robots  that fight each other.  GITS it much deeper story wise and in every aspect I guess, but they both have action, killing, gore and an interesting story.

Both Inuyashiki and Ghost in the Shell deal with the question of what it means to be human and the role of society's "rules" on that question.

Both take place in futuristic cities. With cyborgs that plug into machines and can hack stuff.

Hey, why not check out other anime that the creator made? Aside from the fact that Ghost in the Shell is a cult classic, it shares a bit with Tank Police. Except that its a lot more serious of course...

Both Samurai X and Ghost in the Shell have similar direction. They have it in the respect that they will often cut to a shot of something completely normal (like a river or a city shot) and they both make creative use of the music to create an atmosphere.

What I love about these anime is the amazing details, scenery, and music. They immerse you into a future which is both chilling and possible, and explore the lengths to which humans may stray from their humanity. Wonderful Days features man against nature, while Ghost in the Shell throws man against machine, but the conflict is similar, well structured, and breath-taking till the end. Fascinating in both shape and content, these anime are masterpieces of the same genre.

GITS has a hugely different concept than Dead Leaves, yet a person might like both. Both movies are filled with action. Dead Leaves is a little bit faster-paced, so if you liked GITS and could go for even more action, you should see Dead Leaves. If you want less action, watch GITS.

The Big O and GITS are very similar. GITS is about a robot who is ridding the world of crime, while The Big O is about a guy controlling a giant robot to rid the world of crime; these are similar concepts. You should see them both.

GITS and Ninja Scroll are both what most people would call serious; they are not really that funny. They both are very violent though, so if you like a serious violent movie every once in awhile, see these movies.

Languidly paced and visually striking forays into the cyberpunk genre; each with a slightly less than obvious plot. Both also feature a key and beautiful moment involving images transposed over a song.
