Firstly, I would like to explain that I watched the English dub of the show, and the show itself is absolutely terrible. Though, it is the dub that made this show into an unintentional comedy.

The show uses the incredibly overused idea of a person being teleported to a strange world to become its hero. Not that it makes it automatically terrible. There are great shows that use this basic stories. I think The Twelve Kingdoms is a great show. The problem is that Garzey's Wing does nothing creative about it. It follows that basic plot strictly. What makes it worse, is that the show makes no sense. It jumps all over the place with no explanation. I got the feeling that this was a heavily abridged form of the story. The worst part is that it never really ends. The show ends without resolving really anything.

The animation was completely dull. There is no personality, or any originality put into the characters. That wasn't the only problem. It was plain out poorly animated. I had to wonder why a character's sword was pulsing, or why some of the characters' blood glowed. Like many other cheap action animes, you can expect to see still frames during action scenes.

None of the characters had any personality. I found it hard to have any emotional feeling for anyone. I couldn't remember any of their names. Besides the main character that is. It is hard to forget him when everyone was calling him “Lord Chris”. It just made me laugh whenever I heard it. They never went into the background of anybody. I found it hard to believe that they tried at all on this anime.

The one thing I enjoyed when watching the show was the English dub. It was probably one of the worst dubs I have ever heard. That's what made it so good. At times I couldn't stop laughing. Not only was it bad, but for some reason everyone was yelling. Two characters would be face to face, having a peaceful conversation. Despite that, they would be yelling at each other. There was one scene in the first episode where I was laughing so hard that I felt like I had trouble getting the laugh out. The lines were so poorly written. That one scene had two or three catch phrases that I don't think I will ever forget.

So, the anime itself is terrible, but if you watch the English dub, you will find that it is really entertaining. It will be entertaining for all the wrong reasons though. That's why my scores do not really seem to add up. This definitely is one of the best “so bad that it's good” animes. I definitely recommend this OVA, if you want something to laugh at with friends.

On a side note. This anime is from the creator of Gundam. It's funny how such a poor quality show can come from the creator of one of the most famous anime franchises.

This show is absolutely horrible. The dub voice acting is horrendous. It seems like the characters are always shouting with their bland voices. They barely have voice inflections, and when they do, it is always at questionable moments of the dialogue. The characters even talk over each other. The animation is poor, but that seems forgivable since it is an older anime. The story makes no sense. The only reason I truly watched all the way through is simply because it is so bad that it is hilarious.

"DAMN YOU YAMATO TAKERU NO MIKOTO- UGHHAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

I died laughing at that.

Story: I don't know what's worse: The plot, which is a confusing, exposition-filled mess that explains a whole bunch of nothing while failing to explain some of the important bits. Or the dialogue, which is some of the worst shit I've had the misfortune to listen to. So let's start with the plot.

Nope, not explaining or defining the start because the show didn't do that. It just throws you right into the ocean and tells you to "swim bitch", where it only gets worse as it throws in jinboism and what can only be a combination of jive, slang, fantasy mumbo jumbo and second language english. I did not remember a single name of one of those goofy people name and the closest I got (Apart from Chris Something, our dipshit dickless hero, was King Baboon) wasn't even close. Then there's the wildlife, species, all sorts of shit. Even gunpowder which is really Boom-Boom Sniffs.

Back to the beginning, it trips out five seconds in as a magical goose transports Chris into an alternate dimension back in time while leaving him riding his motorcycle down a dark highway. Basically, he stays in our world while transporting into another world thanks to his magical necklace from a shrine that can summon magical giant geese.

I can guess what you're thinking: "The shit is this fuck", and the shit is this fuck is right. It is fucking. Retarded. And he can communicate with himself across time and space! And it gets worse. It actually gets fucking worse. HOW THE FUCK DOES THIS FUCKING CONCEPT GET WORSE.

And then there's the geese wings of Gerzey's Wings, which is another paragraph on how fucking retarded it is.

But there's dinosaurs, dudes riding raptors and flying dragons and shit. And ground things. They just pop out of the ground going all rawr! and stuff. Pretty spiffy.

Animation: Uh... I actually wasn't paying much attention to the animation. I guess it was alright. There was this sheep scene in the background that totally wigged me out and it goes into an acid trip more than twice, which means Chris has the power to turn the world into a techicolor dreamcoat every episode and glowing rainbows and stuff. Not bad I guess?

SOUND: EVERYBODY YELLS THEIR DIALOGUE AND ONLY THREE LINES OF DIALOGUE IS PEOPLE UNDERYELLING OR WHISPERING THEIR YELLS. EVERY OTHER TIME PEOPLE JUST BELT IT OUT WITH NOT A SHRED OF EMOTION AND JUST SO YOU KNOW THIS IS THE ENGLISH DUB WHICH IS THE BEST DUB FOR HOW MUCH NARM AND CHEESE IT HAS. IT CANNOT BE WATCHED SUBBED BECAUSE I AM SURE THAT THE SUB DOESN'T HAVE AS MANY PEOPLE YELLING.

THE MUSIC IS ALRIGHT AND THE EP IS GOOD BUT I COULDN'T HEAR IT HALF THE TIME BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE TALKING TOO LOUD. AND THE VOICE OVERS STEAL THE SHOW FOR TALKING SO LOUDLY AND EXPOSING ALL SORTS OF POINTLESS AND RANDOM ASS CRAP THAT I DID NOT UNDERSTAND BECAUSE YELLING THINGS CAUSES PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVEN THOUGH IT DOES NOT WORK HERE AND THE DIALOGUE THEY USE WHILE TALKING MIXED WITH VOCAL GRAMMAR IS WOEFULLY IMPROPER AT TIMES. IT IS THE DEFINITION OF SO BAD IT'S HILARIOUSLY BAD AND INVALUBLE TO YOUR VIEWING DISPLEASURE.

THE VOICE OVERS GIVE IT 10/10 BECAUSE THE MUSIC ISN'T AS GOOD BUT THE VOICES REALLY SELL THE SERIES FOR THE LACK OF VOLUME CONTROL AND THE COMICAL DIALOGUE DELIVERED IN SUCH A WAY REALLY MAKES IT WORK. THERE WAS EVEN A CONVERSATION THAT REMINDED ME OF YU-GI-OH GX ABRIDGED WITH JACK AND YUSEI. IT WAS REALLY GOOD. AND I FORGOT TO MENTION ALL THE ORGIES THEY HAVE IN GROUPS WHEN THEY MOAN. IT'S REALLY UNEROTIC.

Characters: I hate all of them.

Overall: The dub is so bad it needs to be heard, a pity that everything else is complete shit. The plot is complete and utter nonsense, the dialogue is terrible and poorly written, the animation I'm indifferent with, the characters are unmemorable, not entirely likable and I felt no connection with any of them and some disappear for no reason at all. The names, wildlife, animals, tribes and all sorts of jingo naming jive talking you have to remember is overwhelming and far too much to take in and aside from the hilariously bad dub, nothing of it is really good. Not the dinosaurs nor the explosions.

Heaven and Hell, all that's in between is a world called Byston Well. This OVA is pretty cool. The story starts off quickly and moves at a good pace. I don't know what some reviewers are smoking, but there is hardly any exposition. All the exposition happens as the viewer and MC learn together about the world he's being summoned to, just as it should be. As for the story itself, it has nothing to do with Dunbine besides taking place in the same world. It is not confusing at all, and things are as black and white as they can be. That being said, in my opinion, the story feels a bit rushed and would benefit from a few more episodes. Making it a 5 or 6-episode OVA would be perfect. The animation is good, as is the character design. The characters are okay, but not very developed. The MC is a little slow, but he gets things done. All in all, I would recommend this one, but it might not be for everyone.
