The top-class boys school in the prefecture, Baramon Private Academy. The protagonist who just transferred there encounters various tough guys at the school. As soon as you pass the gates, there was handsome— The outlaw teacher, the captain of the soccer team, his childhood friend who he hasn’t seen in seven years, etc... This is a school love story filled with very uniquely extreme feelings.
Since this anime is so underrated and the only other review has rated it badly too, I figured it's my job to advertise this anime a little: it's really not as bad as it may seem at first glance. In fact, it's pretty glorious. Gakuen Handsome is a short episode comedy series based on a visual novel, which parodies common tropes found in BL manga/anime/VNs etc. Story and characters It's hard to talk about the story when it's really just a setting for jokes. In any case, a boy transferring to an all-boys school and learning about (gay) love does not sound all that spectacular. But it's a good setting for what the series wants to do, which is to serve some good comedy to the viewers. The characters are all quirky and memorable. Whether they're weird or cool, none of them are boring, and personally I love them all. Animation The artwork and animation in this anime are crap. And it's done on purpose. Strange, isn't it? But it works wonders to enhance the comedy, and I don't think it'd be fair to give a bad score for animation if the fact that it is bad makes the show better. Who doesn't love some pointy chins? Sound The VAs do a great job, but in the sound department the voice acting is completely overshadowed by the greatness of the OP and - even more so - the ED. Seriously, if that isn't the greatest ED ever then I don't know what is. Overall Don't start this if you want a show with a complex plot or great animation. But if you want a good laugh, Gakuen Handsome won't disappoint.
This anime showed the pure bonds between men, and just how powerful it can be. The ending had me in tears, because it displayed the message so well, and that love wins over everything else!
