Story

This was the first anime that I've watched. And I would say that this is one of my favourite anime. I love the story — the old and ancient chinese. Also, it is based on the magical book and that made it even more interesting. The characters are all amazing and I fell inlove with Hotohori than Tamahome for some reason. Though I find them both attractive, there's something about Hotohori's character that would make you fall in love. For the lead love team, they're so cute and you will surely get the chills. The personalities of each characters are perfect. 

I would definitely recommend this anime. You'll surely love it — not to mention that it has 52 episodes. It would make you laugh, love, and cry, and wish you're Miyaka or with Miyaka at that time. If you're looking for a romcom with a story based on ancient chinese mixed with today's life, then this anime is the one. ♡

Many find it strange but this is actually my favourite anime of all time. The story just sucks you in and I love the deep and ''realistic'' characters Yuu Watase makes. When the anime ended, the horrible feeling came and I just had to watch it again.

I really liked the story. I was rarely bored, and almost always hooked. I'm pretty sure I finished the entire series in a period of three days. It had an extremely good plot, and was very original. It wasn't a corny shoujo/romance where everything runs smoothly for the two characters in love, and everything ends happily. No, if that's what you're looking for, then I recommend you stop reading this right now and go watch Kimi Ni Todoke or something. It's a very dramatic anime, where the two characters in love face many obstacles. Not only the two characters in love, but friends, comrades, you name it, there's a whole shit load of drama between the characters.

As for the animation...it was made in 1995, what do you expect? I honestly despise old animation, because I am extremely picky about animation. But I somehow got pass that, and finished the series easily. Even if you're like me and hate bad animation, you'll definitely forget how bad the animation is once your hooked.

The sound was fine. I liked the voice acting, though I usually like the Japanese voice acting in comparison to the English dubs. God, I despise English dubs so much, that I can't tell whether or not the Japanese voice acting is bad or not. Anyway, the quality of the sound isn't amazing like it is today obviously, but again, you get pass that while watching all the drama. :)

I fell in love with the characters. I don't know what more I can say. xD They were all different and unique, and kept the story interesting. I know that anyone who watches this anime will probably love them just as much as I did, if not more.

Overall, definitely worth watching. If there was anybody who watched this and didn't like it, I'd be amazed. I recommend this to anybody who likes Action, Romance, Shoujo, and Fantasy.

What I like about the anime series Fushigi yuugi it's one of the most best animes from the 90s because this anime was based on the manga by yu watase Fushigi yuugi the mysterious play as one of the most classic retro and Anime favorite from the 90s I mean the interesting part is when Miaka and Yui has found the book at the library which is Universal for God's Chinese book which leads them into the feudal world take place in China and it's on historical way kind of like very different from Inuyasha but the final episode of Fushigi yuugi The Mysterious Play episode 52 came out in 1996 in the same year as the first season of Ruroni Kenshin anime started after the final episode of Fushigi yuugi for my loved one episode 52. The music is awesome the story is great the characters are fantastic everything is good in this anime I gave us anime a good review.

This is most definitely my favourite anime of all time. 

The story itself hooked me straight away and the characters took my breath away, when animes cause me to want to stay up til 5am so that I can watch the next episode, that is a great anime and fushigi yuugi did just that for me. No matter how many times I watch this anime I still laugh and cry and swoon as if it was the first time watching it. 

This story is a beautiful way of showing how friendship and love can overcome all. I thought the ending to this story was so perfect that I'm scared to watch the ovas just incase the ending changes >.< I know I will one day though I'm sure :)
