Spice and Wolf

Spice and Wolf

Since long ago, the wolf goddess Holo has honored a contract to bless the rural village of Pasloe with fertile harvests; and in return she has been celebrated and worshipped by the villagers. But as mankind advances, the people have begun to take command of nature for themselves and have made their own god to worship. Holo finds that she is paid little more than lip service, if not outright mocked; and considering the contract annulled, she takes human form and enlists the aid of a passing merchant, Kraft Lawrence, to return to her home in the snowy forests to the north. As they journey together, Kraft finds that he has plenty to learn from this capricious god, and she from him as well.

It might seem like a strange pairing at first, but Fullmetal Alchemist and Spice and Wolf both include a nostalgic world, someone with powers that others don't understand, and problems with the prejudices of others. While Spice and Wolf isn't as action-packed, it reminded me of Fullmetal Alchemist at a calmer pace, and there's something about the way that Ed and Holo smile that lets you know that things are about to get a little crazy.

Fullmetal Alchemist and Spice and Wolf don't seem all that similar at first glance. After taking a closer look though, you'll find that they actually do share a few qualities. Both series follow two main characters as they set off on a journey to reach some sort of goal. For Edward and Alphonse, it is restoring their bodies back to normal. For Holo and Lawrence, their goal is to reach the village of Yoitsu. Each series is heavily character driven and features a variety of fun situations more or less having to do with the main plot. If you enjoy one, you will most likely come to enjoy the other as well.

Soul Eater and FMA are two shounen animes that have a lot of action and a good pacing. In terms of the story I think that FMA does a better job but Soul Eater' story is mostly well done too. I also found that both of these have in a way similar humor and a mix of both funny and serious characters.

Overall I would say that FMA has more dramatic story but despite this difference they have a similar feel to them.

Both series have good humor, a lot of action, funny/loveable characters and great animation (not to mention, Studio Bones produced both of them). If you liked one of these two, you'll defenitely enjoy the other one.

The fate of Japan and the entire world now lie with these three children, though they might not have the power to save the most important thing of all: each other.

I know FMA is not a mech-anime, but they both have heart wrenching senarios and are both dwelling within the human mind to see what exactly is going on in there. there are moral battles, deaths, rebirths, twists and turns. i honestly thing NGE will be almost equally matched on a scale of wits, action, and drama with FMA. if you love storylines that will get you attached, then watch both.

Both series are run heavily on their at least somewhat unique characters. Along with that, they both deal with issues bigger and heavier than most other animes. Delving deep into life, religion, politics and what all of it means while both taking off in different direction. I say celebrate the differences and the similarities. Either way, both are great animes.

Full Metal Alchemist and Dragon Drive are completely different from eachother, however the main character in each series is played by the same voice actor, and the characters themselves are quite similar in their attitude towards life. I don't know what else to say, but if you liked one, you'd most likely like the other.

In both series there is a character striving to reach some goal. If you liked the humor in Full Metal Alchemist, I'm fairly sure you'll like the humor in Yakitate!! Japan too. Keep in mind though that only the humor and the main character are the real similarites. If you ar elooking for a similar story for either series, try some other.

FMA and Gankutsuou have absolutely zero resemblance; the reason why I'm putting these two together is more because they appeal the same audience. A strong story is provided that is uncovered slowly. Gankutsuou doesn't have the side action, but if the story is what appealed you then that difference won't matter.

Both Kenichi and Edward and Al from FMA have such a strong power inside them, and the will to never give up. As you watch Edward and Al grow physically and mentally throughout the series, Kenichi does too. If you enjoyed FMA, you would also enjoy Kenichi for the action, subtle love story, and tons of humor. :)
