If you like the attitude of the main character, you will also like this anime. Both main characters have a similar, utilitarian attitude. Plus they both have cool fighting mecha.
The films will follow The First Summer of Love phenomenon that occurred a decade before the first Eureka Seven series. The anime franchise thus far has hinted at, but never depicted in full, "the beginning of it all." The films will then have the same basic story as the first Eureka Seven series, but will have an original ending. It will have completely re-recorded lines, redone footage, and new scenes.

Oh the disappointment.
Both of these are letdowns for their respective franchises.
If you were looking forward to either - or stumbled upon them later - I’d like to quell your excitement.
Neither of these add any real value or plot importance to their predecessors. While both are new creations for stories thought to be finished/cancelled/overlooked they do not fit well with the greatness that has come before.

If you weren't one of those who were utterly dissapointed by the last season, but rather somebody who simply enjoyed the show. Then I recommend this one as well. It's got mechs, decent fighting and good plot. Though the characters may not be just as awesome.
