Both shows feature loud brawny protagonists with unique powers fighting supernatural beings, while trying to uncover the truth about a tragedy that occured in their lifes.

demision demision says...

Same sort of feel. The character designs are similar, in my opinion. The aesthetic is similar, and there is a focus on exorcism, vague Catholic/religious symbols and themes, as well as death.

The main characters have personalities very reminiscent of each other.

NantackchaGata NantackchaGata says...

In terms of animation and pacingboth shows are similar albeit fire force the betterof the twoin terms of animation. The mani characters are similar inglaring ways but have diffrences that completely differ them.

Hutai Hutai says...

MC had a tragic past, but has super powers - both control fire. World is filled with entities that our heroes are fighting, trying to save people and destroy evil.  MC is also seen as a devil and most people look down on him.

Roofy Roofy says...

I didn't watch it till now.. But it the kind of drawing looks the same, and when I saw the screenshots directly it reminded me of Ao no Exorcist!

Edit: I watched the Fire Force, to be honest I thought before that I do not want to watch it because it doesn't seem that good. But after watching it, I can't wait for season 2 anymore! it was so good and yes it does remind me of ao no exorcist but they don't have much similarities though.

devihelios devihelios says...

They have similar topics and the storyline keeps you captivated. Also, if you have a liking for anime related to the whole "demons" thing, both count. Or if you have a fire fetish.

kawaiibunbun kawaiibunbun says...

I enjoy the fantasy aspect of both. Our main character also has to overcome the negative perception of others. They both have wholesome hearts and intentions.

PurplePeopleEater PurplePeopleEater says...

The protagonists of both shows have similar personalities and have people who think they are evil (though this is a much bigger thing in Blue exorcist). They also focus a bit on religion and exorcisms and have an interesting group of people working together. And there's a mix of darkness and humor thrown into both. The plots are fairly different and the progression of the protagonists as well, but they feel similar.

rose6 rose6 says...

they have similiar charaters and have a story lines that are really different but there are some details that will make you think of the other anime or manga(i sincerely reccomend to read the manga)

Fire Force (Enen no Shouboutai) and Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) share several similarities:

- shonen anime that focus on fun action;

- an organization that fights against supernatural beings;

- main characters that are tainted by the evil they fight;

- main characters have a brother that is important to the story;

- main character uses fire to fight.

I think that if you liked one you'll probably like the other.

StolenStar StolenStar says...

Both are good animes, with fire themes and magic! Both can delve into darker themes and have a main character who is an outlier, not to mention both named 'demon'. The main characters in both are outcasts in a sense, though they find a place and people who care eventually, for a while they are just alone

MechanicPortal MechanicPortal says...

they both go with the idea of fire as the main power, both main characters are considered demons, both animes kill supernatural creatures, and they both care for their families in both animes.

ehmanimelover ehmanimelover says...

The protagonist is hated for being associated with the devil. It also has something to do with their family and the protagonist has some special power nobody else has.

Both have a super good fighting style, and both have a good intereasting plot, i really recomend for you to watch it.

The main charater is highly the same in both shows. I think both are developed by the same people.

Both shows use some "magic" to get it's job done. Both are very much based on taking something down in a given location. Both have the same feel.

sai89 sai89 says...

They have a similar play, animation and humour. In both animes they pursue that the souls get a proper rest.

demision demision says...

Very similar art style and character designs. Both worlds are also vast and detailed, making them something that is realistic and that we could easily walk into and understand.

Similar aesthetic and focus on 'death' as a theme.

Hutai Hutai says...

Both are adaptations of Atsushi Ohkubo. Great animation and soundtracks, engaging characters and a unique world setting. MC's are funny, but smart and strong when they get serious. And of course there's a big mystery to be solved.

The vibe I got of watching fire force made me think of Soul Eater straight away, and I have't finished either.

The charcters and their morels even seem simillar why they do what they do or anything etc.

Also the magic weapon/abillities they posses.

NuclearPasta NuclearPasta says...

Their mangas being written by the same author means these shows have a similar art style, humour, action, and lewd moments. If you enjoy one you're likely to enjoy the other, while both are distinct enough that you'll have a new experience.

patchworkMurder patchworkMurder says...

Made by the same author/mangaka, the animation and plot feel very similar. Familiar type of comedy and plot.

Symka Symka says...

They're both witten by the same mangaka, and have someone similar character styles. Main boys have the big ol' point teeth, and theres some occult elements. Both are pretty goofy with that certain style that only the mangaka can pull off.

kawaiibunbun kawaiibunbun says...

With the fantasy element, style of action and fighting, and the grouping I would say these shows are very similar. Love them both. And the spiky toothed best boys!!

chad28 chad28 says...

- they have the same manga creator: Atsushi Ookubo;

- shonen anime that focus on fun action;

- an organization that fights against supernatural beings;

- main characters that are tainted by the evil they fight.

The style really reminds me of this anime, both the animes have plots based on abilites and has the idea of working in some form of a team. Soul eater also has a few vague hints of religeous aspects too. There is action in both and a good story line!

But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. I had quite a bit of vibes to My Hero Academia. It both starts out with one person (in this case Deku and Shinra) had an opportunity to join with other people to become a hero like how they wanted in their childhood. Deku wanting to be like All Might and Shinra wanting to be like the Fire Force.

KathyKatz KathyKatz says...

Let us begin that both of these titles have a main plot point regarding spontaneous human combustion. In Promare, humans coexist to a certain degree with this and have mutated to acquire these powers while in Fire Force this is mostly seen as a bad thing that only brings destruction towards their people. Both of these shows, also have a brigade of "Firefighters" that deal with these issues, in Promare they're the Burning Rescue Fire Department while in Fire Force they're called Fire Force, hence the name.

Both of these shows have lots of action scenes and fight scenes that if you enjoyed one you will most likely enjoy the other one.

MistLiigh MistLiigh says...

The concepts of these two shows initially bear a surface-level resemblance. Fire Force may be more your cup of tea if you want a longer, more standard shounen; If you enjoy the finest of Imaishi and Trigger's off-the-wall insanity, Promare will offer more bang for your buck in just 2 hours.

The premise for both anime is so similar that it almost feels like they could be two different stories within the same universe, just with slightly different terms and rules.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The foundation of alchemy is based on the law of equivalent exchange; you cannot produce something from nothing. As such, alchemy is bound by one taboo - human transmutation. Four years ago two young brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, broke this taboo when they tried to resurrect their dead mother. During the process Al's body disintegrated and Ed lost his leg. In a desperate attempt to prevent his brother from disappearing completely, Ed sacrificed one of his arms so he could affix Al's soul to a suit of armor. When his missing limbs are replaced by auto mail parts, Ed bears the name of the Fullmetal Alchemist - the youngest ever State Alchemist and dog of the military. Now, alongside his brother, Ed uses his status within the military to attempt to find any way that he can return their bodies back to their original state.

Both shows have some element controling ( FMA has Alchemy, Fire Firce has fire), MC's are pretty funny, but when time comes they can be serious. Roy Mustang reminds of Obi. And we have a thing with government conspiring against people. A mystery that needs to be solved and gets us engaged.
