Intro: This is a simple review of Fight League: Gear Gadget Generators that is intended on giving a brief idea of what to expect when watching this. Story: Uh...futuristic fighting with mechanical gadgets? Honestly, there is no truly defined plot or purpose of what's going on from episode to episode. Most often it's just another challenger for the Boltechs to have to battle in the GGG Cup Tournament. Only after about a dozen episodes or so do the writers attempt to throw some actual plot with substance into the storyline. One can appreciate the effort and the change is welcomed, but the results are still below average. Animation: The battle scenes are decent CG and look considerably different from the hand animation. The non fight scenes are primarily hand-drawn, which is tolerable. Character faces and body design are nothing special, but some of their outfits are unique and fun. The anime is very colorful too, which is a positive. Sound: There's nothing overly spectacular about it, but it suites the anime very well. The OP and ED are both above average if you dig electronica music, and the audio throughout the battles is solid enough. Overall, no major complaints. Characters: Little to no development at all in most of the characters. There's just a bunch of them fighting, then doing some talking. That's about it. As previously mentioned, the first dozen episodes feature a new group or groups battling so it's hard to learn anything about any of the Secondary and Minor characters. Mona is somewhat clueless, G-Wrench is Hot-Headed, and the remainder of their core group is okay. One additional group besides the Boltechs that I find fun are the members of Q.E.D. They get a little more exposure then the rest of the other teams, which is OK since they have an array of likeable characters. Overall: There's not much depth of plot or character development in this anime, which is bad on both accounts. However, there is still some merits on the music and sound effects being above average and often appropriate for the series. The fight scenes are fun as well, although short-lived and almost always predictable. It is more or less an anime advertisement for the actual mobile game, not that it's a bad thing, especially if the anime is good. It's fun, but mediocre at best.
