If you enjoyed the world-encompassing magical systems, the opposing factions, the intense competition & emotional interaction between characters in Fate/Zero 2, I'd suggest you also check out Blast of Tempest for similar themes, atmosphere, and general feel.
I really like both animes because they have a lot of action and magic in them, but still have a strong and interesting storyline as well. I really recommend to watch them both!
Both animes focus upon a main character who has little or no skills to contribute, but both have an immense impact upon the story's outcome as a whole.
One night, Madoka has a terrible nightmare – against the backdrop of a desolate landscape, she watches a magical girl battle a terrifying creature, and lose. The next day, the teen's dream becomes reality when the girl – Homura – arrives at Mitakihara Middle School as a transfer student, mysteriously warning Madoka to stay just the way she is. But when she and her best friend Miki are pulled into a twisted illusion world and meet a magical creature named Kyubey, the pair discovers that magical girls are real, and what's more, they can choose to become one. All they must do is sign a contract with Kyubey and agree to fight witches that spread despair to the human world, and in return they will be granted a single wish. Madoka Magica has several key things in common with Fate Zero: stunningly animated battles, duels that get your heart racing, generous helpings of magic and fantasy, and an interesting bunch of tragic characters that must rail against their fate. Madoka Magica also possesses a similarly dark atmosphere, with colours leaning towards crisp gloominess, and, of course, haunting music by Yuki Kajiura. Thrills and drama come as naturally to this show as it does to Fate Zero 2, so that any fan of the latter would adore the former.
Both of these anime don't hold back when it comes to bringing out dark themes. These anime share the same brilliant writer, Gen Urobuchi.
Once upon a time, two brothers passed the happy days of their childhood by studying alchemy, which is governed by the equal transfer principle: an eye for an eye -- you can't get more than you give. But these brothers tried to defy that law, and a horrific accident resulted. Now, the older brother, Edward, is called the Full Metal Alchemist because of his metal limbs, and the younger, Alphonse, is a soul without a body, trapped within the confines of an automaton. Together they search for the power to restore themselves, to find the lives they lost so long ago...

These are both epic anime with amazing heros and heroins wanting to do good for the world even though it seems unatainable. They both have an ongoing war againt things call homunculi and use alchemic powers. fatezero might be more fantasy but if you like one youll like the other! both have amazing art work and well developed characters and the voice acting is amazing in both jap and amer version (and the music is pretty bada** too). I promise youll love it or your money back guarenteed ;)

They're both tragic, have great art, great characters, are violent as hell and have great storyline. Fate is more philosophical, though.
Area 11 is still under Britannian rule and the Elevens remain brutally oppressed; what’s more, their saviour, Zero, is nowhere to be found and all of Britannia believes the rebellion is finally over. Elsewhere, having lost the battle, Lelouch sets his sights upon winning the war – but the task is no easier since the Britannian forces have learned some valuable lessons all of their own. Not only have they discovered his identity and captured many of his Black Knights, but they now manipulate the memories of all of his friends. Worst of all, they have taken the most precious thing in his life – his dear sister, Nunnally. With his hatred for the Britannians stronger than ever before, Lelouch must now recuperate his forces and bring their rule of terror to an end.
Both are violent and dark. They balance action and visual production with intelligent plots and decent to good character development. Both anime have depth(characters and plot), which automatically sets them apart from most anime nowadays. Fate/zero has some pacing issues in the second season, and Code Geass has a few deus-ex-machina plot devices. Apart from these flaws they are a few of the best anime out there.

The Mage's Association gathers the Red Faction in order to thwart such ambitions. Taking place in Trifas, Romania, the Great Holy Grail War that takes place between 14 Heroic Spirits summoned by the two factions transforms thanks to Shirou Kotomine, one of the Masters of the Red, who is also the Overseer for this Great War.
