Fate/Prototype is the original Fate/Stay night story by Kinoko Nasu, which he later redesigned to make the visual novel. The story revolves around seven masters and their servants participating in the Holy Grail War.

The reasoning behind this scoring is becouse this thing doesn't officially exist. It's not an OVA, but rather a preview for what could have been. Unless you're a die hard fan of Project Moon's works, I reccomend not wasting your time on this. Since it may, like me, make you want to curse the makers for not going through with it. Or like some other people curse them for wrecking the story even if a bit. Either way, it's your call entirely.

it's a pilot episode/prototype to the Fate/Stay Night episodes and I'm still more or less confused over this, it makes no sense for the most part...

To be honest it looks like a promo for the show, not an episode(and it probably is). It has no had nor tale, you have no idea what is going on. I wish it wud be a series to watch because the concept is interesting. It grabs your attention, I watched it and now I want a complite seris to wach. The passing is all over the place it has no reason nor rhyme. You watch it and go what the hell is this. That about it.
