Despite the name of the anime F(Formula) there isn't as much racing as you'd expect. The characters are not very well developed and their motivations and behavior seem to defy common sense at times, though you get a better sense of why they would behave like that once their backgrounds are revealed, but it still feels like something murky. My biggest complaint aside from the relative lack of racing, is the main charcter, Gunma. I just don't think the drama of his background works all that well with his impulsive happy-go-lucky nature. He's fairly annoying throughout the series with minor improvements and most of his evolution is on the track. So, if you're not very patient, hate noisy characters, and care more about cars than anything else, you should probably give this one a pass.Instead, if you are patient, like animes and music from the 80s, are a big softy and are curious how it all ends, I guess you might enjoy it, though I still don't recommend it.It's certainly not the worst anime I've seen, but for some reason it took me 7 months to finish it and most of that I spent getthing through the first half.Still, If you manage to get over F's many flaws and reach the end I'm sure you'll find that it probably moved you more than you were expecting and that you got attached to the characters inspite of it all.
