If you like Ex-Drivers cars more then anything else, get Initial D. This series is for lovers of cars and racing, if you're not into either there's not much here for you.

cron cron says...

With the same love for cars Initial-D has a cast of characters set in the road racing life. Initial-D has more character development and a much longer story arch with some really great music.

freakzilla freakzilla says...

If you like races and driving fast, Initial D and eX-Driver are some of the few choices you have. Initial D has more character design and comedy than eX-driver. eX-Driver has more of a speed feeling though. And of course plenty and plenty of races in both.

nextolast nextolast says...

Well ex driver does have cars... so if you cant get enough of fast driving then fill your boots.. however, if you enjoyed initial d for is strangely compelling characters and their little subplots then this is not really going to do it for you. But then again, who didnt like the racing? ;)

jurexplay jurexplay says...

Those are good choices for all car loving anime fans. Good plot, decent animation and great music. Add outstanding street races and you have a clear image of what ID and ED have to show. If you liked one you definitelly won't be dissapointed with the other.

Much like eX-Driver, YUA was created by Kousuke Fujishima. Thus, they both revolve around cars and attractive girls, though YUA does have a better story than eX-Driver.

Fireaxe Fireaxe says...

Both OVA are adapting creations from the same mangaka, Kousuke Fujishima, and feature similar female duos. These two shows made me realize just how much Fujishima loved cars, and other vehicles of all sizes. Overall, Miyuki and Natsumi is a much stronger duo than Lorna and Lisa, but if you like fast-paced car chases and light comedies, you'll enjoy any of these those shows.

Both anime were created by Kousuke Fujishima. eX-D is newer, so the visuals are obviously much better; however, YUA has a better and more realistic story. eX-D will definitely appeal to those who wanted YUA with more cars, and YUA will appeal to those who liked eX-D, but felt the characters and story had something left to be desired. Naturally, since both anime are created by Fujishima, expect to see Fujishima trademark lovelies driving fast cars.

DontStay DontStay says...

Not only that the Manga author was the same Kosuke Fujishima, but both anime have a lot in common, including cars, main characters who are both females, not just that, but their appearance, temper.. Also, both have similar plot lines, which is chasing after bad guys, but in Ex-Driver the bad guys sometimes are AI cars ;)

Ahh, anime that involve and revolve around car chasing and action.

Both of these titles will have plenty of gears switching, throttles racing, speedometers spinning and brakes screeching as the main protagonists use their best talent... Driving at crazy speed.

The two titles are simple, and have good cel artwork great sound effects, and gets to the heart of the plot easy enough... The faster, the better!

Anyhow, if you saw one and liked the chases, try the other.

MalteseFalcon MalteseFalcon says...

Motor revving, heart pumping, bullets flying, show stopping action pretty much defines these two series, with the main characters taking dangerous driving to the extreme.

If you enjoyed these elements in one of the series, I am sure you will enjoy is in the other.

Both Initial D 4th stage and Ex-Driver leave out the comedy and purely face on the racing. Different from the other Initial D's, this one compares to Ex-Driver the best.

Like Wangan Midnight, eX-D revolves around fast cars. Neither of them have a terribly engaging story, but both of them have amazingly animated driving sequences. I strongly recommend seeing the other if you liked one. Wangan Midnight's CG animation may serve as a mild turn-off for some, but it's still quite good on the whole.

Viper's Creed

Viper's Creed

Following a global war and climate change, 35% of Earth's land mass has sunk into the ocean. In this difficult time, countries rely not on armies but on private military corporations to provide security against constant terrorist attacks. One such company is Arqon Global Security, whose staff of mercenaries is tasked with protecting Daiva City on a pay-per-mission basis. Armed with motorcycles that transforms into weapon-wielding mecha, these "blademen" are none too popular with the people they protect - but they always get the job done!

MalteseFalcon MalteseFalcon says...

Quite simply, both Viper's Creed and eX-Driver are about an organization tasked with stopping rogue AI vehicles. The result is a number of high speed chases, generally involving some crazy driving and explosives.

If you enjoyed these elements in one series, you are sure you enjoy them in the other.

Bubblegum Crisis

Bubblegum Crisis

The year is 2032. Tokyo has been destroyed by a great earthquake and a new city, MegaTokyo, has risen from the ashes. Humans now live side-by-side with androids known as Boomers who perform many of the menial and laborious tasks that humans despise, but these artificial servants come with a price: they have a tendency to go haywire and attack those they were built to serve. The A.D. Police force was created to try and stop this menace, but its weapons can do little more than annoy the Boomers. Hope lies with the Knight Sabers, four young women with high-tech, armored suits and enough firepower to stop an army - but will it be enough to stop MegaTokyo's greatest threat?

Funkgun Funkgun says...

When AI go amuck in future societies, nothing is better, than a team specially designed to stop them.

The AI in Bubblegum are Robots that look human, that are made for service. The AI in eXDriver are cars that shuttle people around without having to actually pilot in any way.

Bubblegum Crisis is a bit more serious tone, and the future is farther off than EX. Crisis is also more a mecha action story, but both are OAV's and shorter in length than a TV counterpart.

So if you like a team vs machine you might enjoy one if you like the other.
