Mami is an esper who after discovering her power tries to put it into good use by helping the people around her. She tries to keep her power a secret but is fortunate enough to have her genius friend Takahata to help her whenever she is in a fix.

Esper Mami is probably one of my favorite magical girl series. I think it's targeted more at children than adults but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Plot: So far only 44 episodes have been subbed in English so I don't know if the plot develops at any point. From what I've seen, the plot is like a magical girl series combined with slice of life. The episodes mostly revolve around Mami using her esper powers to help people. Her powers can sense when someone is in distress and she goes to help them. There are a few episodes of Mami trying to figure out her powers and her friend Takahata helps her. Animation/Sound: The animation is pretty average for an 80s anime but sometimes it can be really good. I like the soundtrack and there are some pretty decent sound effects as well. Characters: The main characters the show focuses on are Mami and Takahata. They are really likable characters and they have a well developed friendship. There is also Konpoko who is the comedic relief and is also Mami's pet. The rest of the characters are just average.
