Series about teenaged orphan boys who move to a new place and become involved with youkai and the world of the supernatural.
Estos animes hablan de la amistad y la comprensión entre los humanos con ellos mismos y con los seres espirituales.
Natsume Yuujin-chou (Natsume's Book of Friends) and Elegant Yokai Apartment Life are similar in that they both star teenaged orphan boys who have encounters with yokai and must use their innate spiritual powers to fight them alongside a cast of kooky characters.
They are both similar in where they are impacted by the life of youkai. With Natsume, it shows more of the struggles of a boy who lived throughout his life seeing youkai and if you want to be invested in a series that one is great. Youkai apartment is very similar in the comradery between the main character and their friends. As well as the relationships they build with youkai along the way.

If you enjoy supernatural shows with a laid-back slice-of-life feel rather than being being scary, these two series fit the bill perfectly.

These anime series have a heavy focus on Japanese spirits and youkai, as well as the human beings who interact with them. If you enjoyed one show, I suggest giving the other a try and seeing if it's up your alley.
When Miyako Arata joins the Shinjuku Ward Office, he thinks he's gotten a normal civil servant job. But it turns out he's joined the Night Community Exchange Department, one of which operates secretly in each of Tokyo's twenty-three ward offices. Their job is to resolve occult issues concerning non-human beings. Accompanied by his senpai and department head Sakaki Kyoichi and the occult obsessed Himetsuka Seo, they work night after night, facing off with beings whose existence defies the laws of our world.
Although Midnight Occult might have more indifferent youkai and prominent discrimination, whereas Apartment Life portrays youkai in a friendly and easy-going manner. However, there are similarities in the depiction of human reactions and fundamental conflicts.
If you like the anime because of the sympathetic protagonist, mirroring human conflicts in youkai society, and the presence of egotistic, stubborn side characters, then this recommendation is worth accepting.
It has a similar feel. Guy gets introduced to occult. Then gets surprised but eventually becomes very immersed in the world and fun, interesting event ensues.
Our story takes place in Japanese Style Tea House "Rokuhoudou" which is quite popular due to the great efforts of Sui (shop manager in charge of tea), Gre (in charge of Latte Art), Tsubaki (in charge of desserts) and Tokitaka (in charge of the food). Not only do the excel in hospitality for their customers, but they also help out with their worries from time to time. A series of endearing stories that take place in this heartful restaurant. Who will be their customers today?
These have the same feel to me. Very cozy, slice of life anime with minimal stakes and adorable found family groups.
Both of these show a place where one can eat and enjoy the atmosphere.
Meeting new people and forming friendships is also something that I think is common.
And both are really feel good and lighthearted anime.
Ashiya has spent the first seven days of high school stuck in the infirmary because of a youkai attaching itself to him. He ends up asking the owner of a small tea room called the "Mononokean" for help. Mysterious stories involving the very morose owner of Mononokean guiding the youkai that happened to wander into this world go to the next world.

Both are series about a teenage boy finds himself suddenly and inadvertently thrust into the world of the supernatural.
There is a certain restaurant in the first basement level of a multi-tenant building in one corner of a shopping street near the office district. The historical 70-year-old restaurant, marked by a sign with a picture of a cat, is called "Western Cuisine Nekoya." This restaurant looks completely normal through the week, but on Saturdays, it opens in secret exclusively to some very unique guests. During these hours, doors in various areas of a parallel world open to allow customers of many different races and cultures into the restaurant.
These shows are filled with lots of fantastical and supernatural creatures that the human main character interacts with.
In Kyoto, youkai have adapted to an urbanized lifestyle, and are often indistinguishable from humans. Among them is Yasaburo, a brash young tanuki who wants nothing more than to live an exciting life with his family: a mother obsessed with Takarazuka theater, a frog stuck in the bottom of a well, a kid brother who works at the brandy factory, and an older brother who’s just trying to hold them all together. But two things stand in the way of Yasuburo’s dreams: the tanuki community has shunned the boy’s eccentric family since his esteemed father died, and the ever-present threat of being cooked and consumed by humans! Can the young tanuki manage to have fun without besmirching his father's legacy or meeting an untimely death by hot pot?

XXXholic is the more mature version of Elegant Youkai Apartment. With XXXholic the main character is better defined and you understand his need for magic. It also is better in the romance department at least define's it better. XXXholic is also funny but better with the dramatic parts. They both experience different challenges where magic can help but with XXXholic the challenges are more suspenceful. If you want just pure happiness with no drama that's Elegant Youkai. If you want real life happiness with drama that's XXXholic. Lastly XXXholic is artistically drawn whereas Elegant is modern anime, if you don't like artsy stuff you may not like XXXholic.
