A breath of fresh air , then a disappointment, that it redeems itself.

The series has one of the most promising starts I have ever seen. We have a very fast pace, good humor and very likeable characters. I felt like I was watching Death Note from Studio Ghibli. After the first 4 episodes they lose pace very fast and change style completely. Usually when you start an anime with one particular atmosphere it is not recommended to change it. They did. They shouldnt have. The episodes aprox. 5-9 are completely useless. Sometimes they have no pace at all, just talk, they have a ridiculous storyline here(the Johnny hunter) and by episode 9, I more or less lost all hope. In the end they manage to redeem themselves by turning back to the humorous, fast paced style of the first few episodes. They do end with a bang, and I am looking forward to the movies released to continue the story.

The series is somewhat a disappointment, since at the beginning it looked like they are on the right track to create a real masterpiece, but in the end they still created a really good anime, on par with Mirai Nikki. By the way: I dont understand the comparisons with Death Note it is similar, true, but everyone in their right mind can see that this is mor similar to Mirai Nikki. Basically every aspect is similar. Only difference is that Eden of the East would be the child friendly version of Mirai Nikki.

Story: really nice story, after the first few episodes the creators lost track of what they want to make, but found their way again by the end. 7.5/10

Animation: to be honest the only thing I didnt like about it are the noses of the characters. Everything looks awesome. 9.5/10

Music: to be honest its nothing special. I couldnt remember anything vividly in the end. 8/10

Characters: the main characters are fun, they are not annoying at all. We have a few characters though who just shouldnt exist. 8/10

Overall: I strongly suggest you watch this. It a lot of fun. The only downside is that it could have been better. 8/10

Eden of the East is just one of those shows that within the first half of an episode you know you're either going to like the series or going to for the most part completely dislike the series.  Within the first several minutes of the show we get the female lead, Saki, meeting main character, Akira Takizawa, who is standing completely naked and holding a gun if front of all places the "White House".  Then from that point on the story draws the viewer into a high stakes game of life and death that makes it next to impossible to stop oneself from continuing onto the next episode.  For I was really quite surprised at how quickly the show drew me in and kept me interested until its end which seemed to come much to quickly.  Though of course that lead me to watching the movies almost immediately afterward, but those are completely different reviews.  Something of course has to be said about the characters and the animation in general because I for some reason or another found the characters to be completely adorable in their apperance.  Especially Saki she just had a face that made you want go over and hug.  As for the sound well the opening was nice and catchy but the soundtrack as a whole was for the most part unremarkable.  Though there may have been one other song in there that I really liked, but I can't quite remember if it was in the show or just the movies.  As for the characters well the main character Akira Takizawa I found it almost impossible to dislike let alone hate him for even a second.  Though that being said most of the other characters tend to fall quite a bit short.  Especially the series's antagonist who for the most part seem mostly undeveloped with the most interesting one of the bunch being Kuroha Diana Shiratori who has a thing for cutting off men's more private parts.  Though something has to be said for Juiz who for some reason or another was just as lovable and charming as the main character.  Overall I still don't know what exactly it was about Eden of the East that drew me in so easily, but one thing is certain and that is that I don't regret watching a single minute of it.

I am not a big fan of series and movies about apocalyptic worlds but this one is probably the best fictional work depicting an apocalyptic world ever. It was very interesting, sweet, and has a bit of everything in it, mystery, a bit of drama, comedy, suspense, action, sci-fi, romance, and thriller. Though, it's not a horror anime, it does keep me on the edge of my seat.

Though, the anime might put off some people because of how confusing it is or if they can't stand certain characters' childish behaviors.

The story has some things that didn't make any sense and confused me like how could no one got hit by a terrorist attack, but other than that minor complaint about the story, I think that the story is what kept me glued to this anime

The characters are unfortunately the weakest part of the series, though none of them is downright bad but they can show an immature and naive side that can be annoying and even cringeworthy sometimes. The only characters I disliked were Saki's older sister and the dog. Some of the characters such as Akira, Saki, Micchon, and Itazu were good characters, they were smart, kind, calm, helpful, even Akira was a cheerful, optimistic guy and I can relate to these characters because of how likeable and strong they are. I think it's important to be happy and hopeful, even in an apocalyptic world.

The way that the characters were drawn were kind of outdated for 2009, they seemed like they were drawn in 1998 and the way that they were animated felt a bit cartoonish for me. Saki, Akira, and Micchon were cute but Saki and Micchon looked too young for their ages.

The songs are okay, I guess but some of them sounded a bit too, I don't know, romantic? The other songs were pretty good, though. The english dub wasn't too bad neither, but I think I prefer subbed a bit more. The Japanese VA provide a bit more comedy to their voices than the English VA.

The anime had a lot of interesting and nice things in it. It was different and it just made me want to go into this world, be with these characters, and be a Selecao because of how cool their phones are! During serious times, the characters help each other, and there's lots of comedic moments that I laughed at in it. I might want to watch it again and even with friends.

Eden of the East should be praised for its unique story elements and amazing storytelling, but it definitely has some plot holes that are never resolved by the end of the series. Overall, however, it's an amazing show, despite the flaws.

STORY 9/10

One of the best I've seen. It starts out very slow in the first few episodes, it takes a while for any plot to begin to develop as they try and set the scene for the viewer. From there the reader is pulled into the story of what Akira Takizawa did before he lost his memories, and why he did that to to himself. Couple in the cast of other Selecao agents, a pleasantly naiive lead female, and the others who get dragged in and this becomes a very compelling story.

ANIMATION 7.5/10

Quite well done, well colored scenery and nicely drawn characters, though not particularly standout.

SOUND 7.5/10

Pretty decent opening and ending themes, and a nice coupling of backgroud music, though once again nothing special.

CHARACTERS 8/10

I summarized them a bit in the story section already, the main two characters were pulled off very well. They did a strong lead male and shy female while avoiding cliches and making each of them original.

OVERALL 8/10

Very good watch for anyone who's looking for drama, mystery, and a little bit of action and romance thrown in there too.
