Haiiii~ (~◠▽◠)~♥ It's the first review of the year and my favorite show is back! Last Durarara!!x2 season is upon us! NOTICE: This is a first impression review, it will be updated once 6 episodes are out and then again once it finishes airing. Also, I wouldn't recommend reading this review if you didn't watch both the original DRRR!! and 2 seasons of DRRR!!x2 (which I previously reviewed) because this review might contain some minor spoilers for previous seasons. Now isn't this great? I'm sure they will wrap up things in the most interesting way possible, but for now let's review based on the first episode! STORY So the first episode is sort of a recap of what the hell is going on so far. Which is needed considering this show is based on a lot of dialogue and 15+ characters are not making it any easier. And yeah to fully understand the story you have to be really focused all the time (same with monogatari series, which I mentioned in my previous DRRR!!x2 reviews). Following this story might not be easy, but it's totally worth it. The story is interesting, funny and full of character conflicts which are more than entertaining. Now, if you watched all the previous seasons of DRRR!! you might have noticed what I noticed. It sort of feels like the story is going in a circular motion. In the end everything is again based on Yellow Scarves, The Dollars and Saika, but this time there's much more development (including Celty's head) In conclusion, I love the story, it's still brilliant after so many episodes and I can't wait to see more. 9/10 ANIMATION Well, I don't have anything to add considering my previous DRRR!! reviews. The animation is still brilliant, detailed, polished and unique. And I have nothing negative to say so far. 10/10 SOUND Same as animation, amazing OP, incredible sound quality and voice acting. I would even say that this quality is top-notch when it comes to the anime industry. If more anime had this sound quality, world would be a better place. 10/10 CHARACTERS Nope, this anime still has 48 relevant and developed characters that are all heavily involved with the story. Or is it just me? I just love how everyone is included, everyone has a purpose. I feel like this anime has no ''side characters'' because of that. The only negative thing I can say is that there are so many characters that it gets sort of hard to follow each and every one, and despite of the number of episodes, I still can't remember half of their names. Still, 9/10. OVERALL Woow, isn't this anime great? Kind of breaks my heart that this is the last season BUT HEY I can't wait to watch the upcoming DRRR!! series coming out sometime in 2028. Jokes aside, this is one of my favorite anime series in the world, it's so good and every episode is enjoyable. Since it's only ep1, the rating will be symbolic. Since last 2 seasons were great, I'll give it 9.5/10 so far and see what happens when more episodes come out. That's it! Thanks for reading my review! I'd recommend this anime to all Durarara! fans (yeah you! if you didn't catch up do it now!), and everyone who's ready for a great anime! (make sure to watch S1 and x2 Shou and Ten first) Rate if you found this review helpful, funny, or just like it. I have more anime reviews so check them out if you want! Thanks and have a nice day ^^
Story After watching the first few seasons Durarara became one of my favorite shows. Due to this fact Durarara also has been running for a long time. I Discovered Durarara around season 2.5 and was able to follow the entire arc. While Durarara has its genius moments I hope Durarara comes to a close. Just like great shows have their moments Durarara and it's long name have been running for around 3-4 years. The show's premise has so many entertwining arcs that at times it's refreshing as a glass of water, and other times there's a whole lot of headaches. It would be nice of the series to be wrapped in a nice big bow for rewatchabillity. In the origional there were spots that were like "Woah that's important??" But anymore those special spots are missing from around season 3 afterwards. Mostly because everything started to become more mainstream and things were explained. So if they stretched the show on too much longer the material will become more filler and lame. Like it's someone's obsession rather then pure coincidence.CharactersCharacters are thought out and there's no complaints. The animation at times is getting darker and harder to track and follow characters. The series is starting to experiment with different camera shots.
Based off memory. Also, spoilers. Ah... the final season of Durarara, unless someone decides to make an anime for Durarara HS/SH... oh well. The last cour of Durarara, Ketsu, is considerably more suspenseful than the first and second cours and the first season altogether. Ryugamine's plan and lots of other things are all happeining. And at the very end you're just... satisfied, well, if you're a fan that is. I don't know about non-fans but hey, whatever. Animation didn't drop in quality. Good thing. Op is good. Ed is eh. Voice acting is good. Characters are well done. I especially like Ryugamine, Celty and Masaomi here at the last cour. Especially.
