Doukyuusei - Reviews

This is the first time, I've ever given a 10/10 rating but this film is well deserving of it. I applaud the makers of this film for being able to articulate and adapt such a beautiful story in such a short amount of time (just over 60 mins), when some series can't even achieve that in 12 or more episodes, just brilliant. The animation is a little off putting at first but I loved it after awhile, it's quite different. 

They break it down into seasons summer, autumn, winter, spring vacation, summer again.  Hikaru Kusakabe is a popular guy who plays guitar in a band when he notices Rihito Sajou not singing in choir, they are polar opposites as people, he is an honour student who is aiming for a top university, wouldn't have even talked to each other if it wasn't for Kusakabe forgetting his bento box and seeing Sajou again not singing the words correctly and he starts helping him. They start hanging out and slowly the feelings between them begin to grow. Kuksabe seems to fall first and makes the first move, which he is horribly embarrassed about at first, once he knows Sajou feels the same way, he's overjoyed but then comes the hard part....The actual relationship, it has its ups and downs but it is beautiful how they navigate that together. A very wholesome first love story I absolutely recommend to fans of BL but even if you don't normally watch BL, you'd probably enjoy this if you like romantic drama stories. 

LOVED LOVED LOVED this anime!! I could've watched this go on for hours! Such a sweet heartfelt show. I love that everything in their relationship grew naturally over time. Nothing was forced at all not even the kissing. They have a beautiful first love and are trying to figure out a future together or apart. They are complete opposites but they are good for each other and they genuinely care about each other.

Just a great anime overall!! This is an anime I will be watching again for sure and I NEVER watch shows a 2nd time. But it's that good!! 

The animation was different than I'm used to and it threw me off at first but I grew to like it and it felt right for this. What songs I remember fit well and I absolutely love both of the main characters.

I was recommended this movie since ive just recently started getting into Yaoi and BL and this movie is amazing! Its cute and sweet and their love truly runs deeps with one another! Thry grow a bond that can neve be broken and they both know this...I love the sentimental and romanctic aspects of this anime, how it doesnt go to far, but it gives you just  enough! If you love yaoi and if you love cute romance period, then this is for you.

This anime movie was very well put together. 

The combination of the watercolour like art style and the musical choices made what my friend considers a happy story, very sad and melancholy in my opinion. It's very beautiful.

It's honestly really nice to see a good LGBT movie that's not "hardcore yaoi for the fangirls to scream over". 

I loved this movie, and honestly, I would recommend any mlm out there who just wants some good mlm content to watch this. 

It's a good movie, it's very well put together, the character dynamics are really good, and I honestly don't have any complaints. 

My friend told me he thinks the movie could have touched more on the whole teacher being a pedo being a bad thing, and I do agree, it would have been nice to see that touched upon. (It is important to note that aspect is not portrayed as a positive thing in the movie). 

Normally when I write anime reviews I always have something bad to say, but honestly, I don't have anything bad to say here, so good on you Doukyuusei. 

Wow i hope we'll get more animations like this. the characters are just...chefs kiss, I love opposites atract. the pace is just perfect and the scenes were never boring.
